PERSONALITY
Porter isn't much for talking to other people. Many people assume it's because he thinks that he is better than them, and admittedly he doesn't do much to prove that idea all that wrong. However, he prefers not to talk to them because he thinks that they look down on him instead and if he actually got to know someone, if they knew what kind of home he came from and the kind of things that he had once been involved with, they'd only judge him all the more. He does have a few people that he talks to and hangs out with, because no one likes being completely alone, but they don't know all that much about his personal life and he doesn't stick around for whenever someone tries to find out more about where he came from. The way he figures it, if he wanted to talk about it he would volunteer the information and the fact that he doesn't should be enough of a hint for other people not to stick their noses into his business. Just like he isn't at all the kind to pry into someone else's business, no matter how curious he might be able something.
He's a very intelligent guy, always has been. He can look at any situation placed in front of him and logically come up with an explanation for even the hardest things to explain. With a great memory and natural math skills, school has always come natural to him and he's never been afraid of doing a bit of work. However, he isn't the type to always intently listen to what is being said in class or even pay attention all the time. Having no issues learning out of a book without people taking extra time to explain to him, he doesn't always see the need and that's gotten him into trouble more than once in his life. Along with tendencies to start on homework during class time any time that he's able to manage.
Most of the time he's a very cool individual, not getting easily roused up and having a temper that's the opposite of explosive. Whenever he gets truly mad, and not just annoyed or mildly frustrated, it has taken him a while to get to that stage and his temper is silently deadly. The more upset he gets, the more still he'll become. He doesn't need to yell at people to show that he's mad because he is perfectly fine with being cold to a point of viciousness instead. His anger tends to linger on for a while too, not just getting over it right away and he's been known to hold grudges for up to a year if he believed that the person really deserved it. Forgiveness isn't something that comes very natural to him, though with how close people get to him, it isn't something that he needs to grant often either.
When it comes to relationships, at this point Porter tends to stick more toward flings and one night stands more than anything else. Mostly because the last time that he had a serious girlfriend it didn't turn out well, finding out that she had been cheating on him for months because of the lack of personal connection between the two of them. It'd come as quite a blow to him, given that she was the person that he'd felt the closest to. Needless to say, he ended the relationship then and there and still isn't speaking to the girl that once used to be one of his closest friends. With such a train wreck as a reference for a serious relationship, he'd much rather not even go down that road. He still is a teenage guy though and definitely having urges that need attending to, hence the one night stands and flings.
APPEARANCE
Standing at a height of 6' tall, with a fairly athletic build, Porter isn't all that self conscious. He doesn't pretend to be the best looking guy around, but he knows how to use his big brown eyes to his advantage when he wants to. He prefers to keep his dark brown hair on the longer side, often opting for bangs that will fall into his eyes. Stronger features are easily noticeable when people look at him and often seem to be unfriendly at first look. It is true that it's a rarer occasion to see him flash his straight white teeth into a smile, but his features can light up just as well as anyone elses.
When it comes to style and fashion, they aren't something that Porter much concerns himself with. He has a few pairs of jeans, a variety of different shirts and maybe two pairs of shoes total with a couple of belts for the pants that need them. When he looks to buy something he is usually more concerned with if he thinks it looks at least alright, if it's not ridiculously expensive, and if they were comfortable. His daily routine barely taking more than five minutes at the most.
HISTORY
Porter Mason Clarke was born to parents Susan and Rodger Clarke on January 31, 1994 in Chelmsford, England. He was the second born to the couple and was greeted warmly to the small family, with three-year-old sister Georgina, Georgie, taking to her little brother instantly. They lived a modest life, both parents school teachers at the local secondary school, though they were happy that way. Although the children were frequently watched by baby sitters on the weekdays, given that they had no grandparents on either side. Until he was about four years old everything went smoothly in the family, for the most part. Rodger liked the bottle a bit too much, always needing at least a drink per night, though the family never saw it as a problem because he wasn't a violent drunk, a loud drunk, or an angry drunk. He was just fun to be around, it helped him to 'unwind' from his day and he didn't see a problem with that. One night in December though, after having his usual drinks for the night and having to run up to the store, he ended up crashing the car into a tree and was killed instantly. Susan took it hard, though they had been a smart enough couple to set aside money each month for life insurance so there were no worries about how to pay all the expenses and with other money that had been set aside, the now family of three would be able to continue to live their lives as they had been.
However, it was obvious that Susan wasn't going to get over it and living in the same house that she had shared with her husband became too much for her at some point. So, she moved the children away from their house, Georgie away from her school and away from the town where she had once taught. Selling the house and moving into a smaller one in Whitby, almost five hours away from their former home. This helped Susan, at least, to be able to go back to work and not to have to think of her husband every single day. As for Georgie and Porter, they continued to grow up and go on with life as normally as they possibly were able. Given his young age, Porter had a lot harder of a time missing his father as he grew older because he never got to know him at all and new interests started to appear in his life. With the move, obviously the children gained a new babysitter to watch after them, and it just so happened that this babysitter had a bit of a knack with cameras and film. Something that immediately interested Porter from the first moment that he saw it. He did the best that he was possibly able to learn from his babysitter, suggesting stories that could be made and usually trying to bribe Georgina into acting in them.
When he got old enough, his mother decided to buy him his own video camera and once that happened he took to filming almost everything that he was able. Writing out scripts and getting the people that he hung out with at school to act in his little films. He was very proud of them and wanted to do the best that he was able to be and was determined to be famous someday. However, his journey to that fame got a bit skewed as he started getting a bit older and found that he tended to follow in his father's footsteps more than his mother or sister would have liked. Going out to party on the weekends and getting drunk. Though, he was never dumb enough to mess up his education for it, but not seeing why there was a problem with a guy having some fun when he was getting everything done. His mother and sister growing increasingly worried about him, not wanting to have another early death in the family. Unfortunately, they weren't going to have a chance to prevent such a happening from occurring once again. When he went out one night at 14 to a party and got completely drunk. Georgie got home from her part-time job that she'd been working to help pay for college and had enough when she found he wasn't at home. She wasn't going to let her little brother ruin his life by wasting away his talent on partying and went straight over to the party to drag her brother out. She found him drunk in a group of people and pulled him to his feet, dragging him out as she yelled at him over his stupidity.
Her temper was much different than Porter's and once she got started it was difficult to stop her from going on and on and on. Which was what she continued to do on the drive back to their house, lecturing her brother on his stupidity and about how no one wanted to lose him the same way that they had lost their father. Porter sat silently, rolling his eyes from time to time and thinking about how his sister was overreacting and that did nothing to help her anger. The angrier she got, the less her attention was where it should have been and she ended up running a red light while not paying attention. Colliding with a car that had been making a turn in a crash that was less than a mile from their house. When Porter came to in the hospital three days later with a broken arm, he learned that his sister had not been so lucky and while her body was still there and working, her brain had not been so lucky. The funeral was to be held a few days later, but Porter was refusing to go. The guilt that he had, feeling like it was his fault completely. This did not go over well with his mother, who got so angry when, on the morning of the funeral, Porter was laying in bed with no intention of getting up, that she told him herself in her anger that she blamed him as well and that he was going to get his ungrateful, drunken ass out of bed and show his sister's memory respect since he hadn't done so in her life.
Later, Susan would apologize to her son for what she said. However, the words would never quite leave him and the two of them developed an extremely strained relationship. Susan having the deaths of both her husband and daughter weighing on her almost constantly, with her only family left being her son, who often stayed in silence around her. They sold the house and moved into a two bedroom apartment together, which was substantially smaller than the house that they'd lived in, but at least lacked the memory of Georgie. Porter threw himself back into film and school and promised himself that he would never ever take another drink again, for the two lives that he lost. Instead, he focused on trying to get his film improved. This was what lead his search to try and find a school to advance his skills, which was when he came across a website for Gordon Parks Academy in Kansas City in America. It seemed like a great place to get a new start, where not everyone knew the fact that he'd been in the car with his sister, that he'd lost his father.
Even though it was already past what would have been his Freshman year in America, he decided to apply with hopes of starting what would be his Sophomore year there. The only thing was that he knew he needed a scholarship. There was definitely not enough money for him to go without it, so he sent in an application with some of his best work and hoped that he would be lucky enough to get a scholarship. When an envelope finally came back in the mail with news that he had been accepted and with a full scholarship. So, he packed up his bags and had to use Georgie's college money, a very painful choice, to buy his airfare over to America. Hoping to start new.
