My darling princess,
I am so sorry to hear about Nathan and I hope that he's recovering as you said that he was. But I want to be clear right away that I stand with him in the ideal that you are not to blame for anything that happened. I don't know where you picked up the habit of blaming yourself for these things, but darling, none of this is your fault. Nothing was ever your fault and I wish that I could help you to see that you are the person that Nate thinks you are. I feel like he has a much better view of you than you have, which makes no sense to me. Not that he'd see you as the person that you really are - he's an intelligent guy and he loves you, which always helps. But really, you are a fantastic person Felicia. I am so proud to have you as a daughter and so is your father. You have grown up to be such a caring, responsible, beautiful, talented young lady. I won't tell you that you have no flaws, but we all have them sweetie and you can't let them bring you down.
And before you go brushing off everything I say because I'm your mother. I'm sure that your friends have told you the same and really we all just don't want you to do anything that you'll regret later. I'm well aware that somehow you don't think that you're good enough for the relationship that you found yourself in, but you do deserve everything you have sweetie and you shouldn't doubt that. You're no angel, but I'd never want you to be either. You're the best daughter that I could have asked for and I'm very blessed to have you in my life, just as Nate is very blessed to be able to be dating you and he surely knows it. Honestly, with the way that you talk about him and the way you two act together, it's a huge surprise that you aren't already engaged and on your way to tying the knot. Because yes, he'll want to spend the rest of his life with you for good reason.
I was thinking that this year, we could do something different for the holidays and I want your opinions on it. I know that you'll want to spend time with Nate and your father and I have already planned around that, don't you worry. That's why I want you to be a chief decision maker in what we do, so that the two of you will be able to spend your time together and get time in with his parents as well - I don't want to be accused of hogging you two.
Call me after you get this letter, sweetie. It'll be nice to have a phone call and we can get some planning done for the next time we see each other. I miss you so much and your father does as well and we both love you more than you know.
Hugs and kisses,
Mom
