Slowing Down {Evie}

The main thing that Ian had learned in the past few years was that time goes by fast. It was hard for him to believe that he was already halfway through college, and not only that, but that it was Evelynne's last year. They still had a week before school started back, but it would arrive soon enough - and then before they knew it, it would be June and she would be graduating University. Sometimes it was hard to try and slow down a bit, to sit down and enjoy the moments they got to spend together before they passed - they both lead some pretty busy lives, with not only school but also work, and there were days when he missed summer being a time of the year during which he could sit back and relax, work on his music and do whatever else he wanted without worrying too much. With his school year part time job turning to a full time job during break, that hadn't really been possible in a couple of years though, and seeing as Evie did the same and they didn't always have the same working schedules, there were days when they only saw each other for a brief moment of time, and he came home to find her already in bed, or the other way around.
This weekend was a rare one during which they were actually both off, from the time she would get home from work around six on Friday night, all the way until he had to go in Monday morning at eight. And although he knew his wife well enough to expect her to want to be on the go still, and get as much done as possible in that given time, he had made plans to make sure that wouldn't happen. Not that getting stuff done wasn't a good thing, but Evie was the kind of girl that had a constant and never ending to do list in her mind. And the only thing he wanted to figure on their respective to-do list over this weekend was one another. Summer had been crazy, and the rest of the year would without a doubt follow in a similar fashion, so he wanted to make sure they got this weekend to just think about the two of them. He knew a weekend away wasn't really in their budget right now though, seeing how they were saving up for a down payment on a house and other future plans, but that didn't matter. He could set a relaxing mood for the two of them in their very own apartment without too much of a problem, putting the finishing touches on dinner as he waited for her to get home.
