Kyle had known for a long time now that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Cheyenne. He'd started looking for a ring before the end of the last school year, going to several places and trying to find what he felt would be the ring for his girlfriend. Problem being, he hadn't been able to find anything. Sure, there were plenty of very nice looking rings, but none of them seemed to be what he was looking for, and he had a pretty good idea of what he wanted, even though he didn't exactly have the most knowledge when it came to jewelry. Still, he just didn't want to go for anything too plain, or too simple, because Cheyenne was neither - not that she was complicated per say, she just had her complexities like anybody else and he loved that about her, because he loved everything about her. At the same time, he didn't want anything obnoxious in size, not because he didn't have the budget for it, but because a lot of rings that were a bit on the bigger size just seemed bulky, and he wasn't really sure that was something his girlfriend would enjoy wearing - and that was the main concern there, that she would love the ring.
In the end, he'd come across what he was looking for while browsing online, and he'd headed to a local store to order it in - not really wanting to order something as important as an engagement ring on a website. It'd come in toward the end of July, but by then, Carson had already gone and proposed to Stephanie, and now Cheyenne just kept dropping hint after hint, making him decide to hold back for a little while longer, or at least until she stopped mentioning it every other day - if that seldom. It was school that finally came to his aid, as they neared Fall break and more and more assignments got piled on, to the point where Cheyenne's mind didn't very often stray from school work. He'd finally gotten everything ready, on the Friday right before break, knowing she would be a little less stressed out since she would have a whole week off to focus on everything she needed to work on. He'd spent the day making sure everything was set and in place before leaving his apartment to go pick up Cheyenne at the Academy. He'd already promised her he'd take her out to dinner as a treat once she went on break, so he planned on getting that done first, parking his car in front of the school once he got there and sending her a text to let he know he was there.
