Being in a lock down was definitely not a situation Jess wanted to get a repeat of, ever again. Of course, with the way things were currently going across the US, there really was no guarantee that she would be safe from it in the future seeing as she still had two and a half year of high school to go through, and school shootings happened so frequently around here that it sometimes made her feel like they weren't even taken that seriously anymore, but it wasn't enough to discourage her from wanting to stick around the Academy until she was through with high school. Besides, after something like today, maybe they would heighten the security some more - something told her parents would have something to say about it if they didn't. That would definitely be a good thing, though at the same time she did hope they wouldn't heighten it too much - like, in the boys' dorm building for example. Either way, there really was no way of knowing what would be done about it all until she got back from Christmas vacation, seeing as whatever was bound to happen would surely happen during that time.
She was definitely glad to hear Ms. Mayer dismissing them as soon as she got news that they were no longer under lock down, and then add that classes had been cancelled for the rest of the day - and even more so to know that the only victim of the shot was going to be okay. She gathered all her belongings as her friends did the same, watching Oli pretty much make a bee line out the door toward the office after grabbing Mel's things as well as his own, figuring that wasn't too surprising, and giving a quick wave at Amanda as she made her own way outside of the classroom. Not bothering to stop by her locker, because the halls were starting to look like a mad house now that all students had been let out and were going all over the place, some of them crying, others just looking still in a panic. Figuring she'd just come back for whatever she needed to bring home with her in the morning, she hurriedly made her way outside of the building - at least, as fast as she could considering the crowd - her quick walking pace turning to a running one once nobody was in her way anymore so that she could head back toward her dorm building, only slowing it to push open the glass doors to the school grounds. There was no way in trying to find Porter right now, so the best she could do was get a hold of her phone and text him.
