Today was not going to be Kyle's favorite day ever. There were, it would seem, pros and cons to everything in life. He was definitely happy to be able to call a girl like Cheyenne his, and to know she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. Although it would still be a little bit of time before they actually got married, but then that just left her plenty of time to plan whatever she wanted to plan, and hopefully gave him plenty of time to make sure he had enough money to cover some of the expenses. He was pretty sure Chey would be famous before him with her designs anyway, so it wasn't like money ought to be a problem in their future - and although he had yet to get a novel published, he had found an editor who was very confident they'd get one of his books out there pretty soon. It was a bit tricky right now to do business with that editor, seeing as he was located in California, but he'd thought it a smarter move to try and find someone on the west coast seeing as they were moving there once Cheyenne graduated, and as such it would have been counter productive to get an editor in Kansas City.
Overall, they had some pretty good plans for the future ahead, and there were really very few aspects of his relationship with Cheyenne that he would consider to have a downside. Really, there was just a major one - which so happened to be her parents. From some of the stories he'd heard from Carson to start with, they weren't exactly the greatest parents ever, and then her mom's reaction to what had happened with the sex tape had just been enough to confirm to him that they were assholes who didn't care much about their children in the first place. However, Cheyenne did still care about them some, and getting engaged to her did mean it was time to meet her parents. They had postponed that for as long as possible, seeing as in their mind he was just the guy who'd made a sex tape with their daughter, but now, there really wasn't a valid reason to keep putting it off. So they had come into the city, and he'd made a reservation at some overly, probably unreasonably expensive restaurant because anything less would probably make them even more unpleasant than they were to be in the first place, and then he'd shut himself up in his writing room for the greater part of the day, trying to get some work done until it was time to get ready.
