PERSONALITY
Amanda has always been a very quiet kind of girl. She's more at ease when she doesn't have to talk much, unless her talking has an actual purpose - which most likely explains her career choice. She is very studious and proper, the type who was always at the top of her class and the first to hand in assignments back in her own school days. She loves order and has an extremely developed sense of responsibilities. She always does what is considered to be politically correct, and rules are very important to her - she figures that they are there for a reason, and not once in her life has she broken a rule. She's never even gotten a detention in school, and her grades always kept an average of As and high Bs, in high school as much as in College.
Some people do consider her a bit boring and not very interesting, but there is one aspect in Amanda's life where her imagination and creativity knows no bound - her art. It is by far her strongest passion, and in some instances she would even go as far as to say her reason of being. She can be inspired by anything and everything and has herself been an inspiration to many of her peers. Of course her talent relies as much on her creativity as on her extremely hard working personality, and she is almost sickly when it comes to perfectionism. It sometimes leads her to judging other people's works as much as her own slightly too severely but never unfairly, and though some people have resented her harshness before, her critiques are always highly constructive and mostly help along an obvious improvement when followed.
She has been known to be, on top of everything else, a bit of a health freak, but she was raised that way. She cannot remember eating junk food once in her life, nor meat for that matter, her parents being vegetarians, a path which she followed herself until she was twelve, when she then took the decision of becoming a vegan. She is also very conscious about the environment and tries to make as many eco-friendly decisions as possible - she doesn't own a car, mostly always walks or rides her bicycle, or take the bus as a last resort when it's raining or too cold, and she tries not to use too much electricity either. As for relationships, she's been involved in a few but they never last long, and she's come to realize she could never be with someone who doesn't share her values.
APPEARANCE
There is no denying that Amanda is a very attractive woman, and she has made people's head turns more than one with her looks of sweetness and innocence, soft brown hair framing her creamy cheeks and falling down to about the middle of her back in a mix of waves and curls. Her chocolate brown eyes match with her hair and complexion, and though her skin is smooth and pale during the winter, she can usually manage to get a good enough tan whenever she stands out in the sun during the summer. Her lips are full yet not too wide, a soft natural shade of light pink, and she has a small beauty mark on her right cheek.
Standing tall at five feet tench inches, she has a slender hourglass figure with full womanly curves and a toned body, due to the fact that she works out quite frequently. Her clothing style is rather original due to the fact that she makes her own clothes or shops in stores that sell old clothes, usually going for fabrics that are eco-friendly but at the same time not too expensive. Her looks of predilection usually involved a long flowing skirt and a nice blouse, a bit hippie in her way of dressing at times. As for make up, she has never work any in her life, much preferring a natural look to any kind of product she might put on her face.
HISTORY
Amanda Caitlin Benson was born to teens Henry Benson and Danielle Parks on the early morning of December 25th of 1987 in Boise City, Oklahoma. Her mother was merely seventeen years old when she gave birth to the little girl, and though her boyfriend of nineteen stuck around with the teen mother, the first few years of life for the three of them was rather rough. There was definitely enough love to go around the place, but the two kids' parents had made it clear they wouldn't help in any way, obviously not approving of their decision to keep the child - and, of course, of having gotten pregnant in the first place. They lived in a small apartment that wasn't exactly situated in the best of neighborhoods, and Henry worked two jobs to try and get enough money to pay the rent and get enough food for his girlfriend and daughter. As for Danielle, she did her own share of working from home, doing small clothes alterations with her old sewing machine, and sometimes working short shifts at a nearby restaurant, leaving Amanda with an old kind neighbor whenever she had the possibility to.
After four years of that kind of a life style, Henry was finally able to get himself a nice enough payed job that allowed Danielle to go back to school and attempt to get her diploma in hopes of finding a better job herself by the time Amanda would be going to school. Even then, the pay was only enough for the bare necessities, but none of them really minded as long as they had each other. Amanda grew to be a very loving and loved child, very proper and polite, always helping around the house whenever she could from the moment she was old enough not to hurt herself while trying to help. She didn't have any toys, her amusements consisting of old books her parents had gotten when they were younger, of broken games and her imagination. She learned to sew with her mother from the tender age of nine, though it wasn't until she was thirteen that she really got interested in the whole process.
She found her passion for art in school, never really having drawn before in her life - she had grown used not to ask for anything of her parents, knowing the chances were they wouldn't be able to afford it and would feel bad for it. But for the first time in her life, at the age of six, she went up to her mother and asked if she could have some crayons or anything that would allow her to draw. Her parents were more than glad to encourage her talent, knowing the inspiration that seemed to inhabit her was quite rare in such young children and wanting her to develop it as much as she possibly could. Soon, drawing and sewing were the two only things she found herself doing aside from schoolwork, and the one things she wanted to do - she got home from work, studied, did her homework and grabbed a piece of paper or some various pieces of fabric to practice whichever activity she prefered at the moment, and at the age of fourteen she was able to make her own clothes.
She was fourteen when she heard of Gordon Parks' Academy, and though she tried not to get her hopes up as she discussed it with her parents, she decided it would be worth a try, not really knowing just how good her art actually was, but she was at least aware that her grades were of the highest in her school and that she would regret it if she didn't try. Before her Freshman year, she applied, anxiously awaiting for the letter that might just change her life, and the moment she received the acceptance letter, both she and her mother burst into tears. She spent the best four years of her life in that school, developping her talent and increasing her passion for art and thirst for knowledge. Once she graduated, she headed back to Oklahoma with the intention of attempting to sell her art, innocently thinking it would be as easy as that, but she soon had to face the reality that such a young artist as she was didn't live off paintings and drawings.
It took her two years to decide what she actually wanted to do, and in the end she realized that if she couldn't live off her passion, she could at least try to share it. She entered College in Kansas City then on a student loan as well as with the money she'd earned working in the past two years and some her parents had put aside for her whilst she was off to the Academy, having grown to love the city and missing it a lot as well as a lot of her classmates who still lived nearby. When it was time for her to try and get some work experience, she headed back to Gordon Parks', never dreaming she would really have a job opportunity there though something told her she ought to go. When she learnt there would be a position opened for Art during that one year, the current professor expected to go on maternity leave about halfway through the year, she jumped on the occasion and was definitely overjoyed when she found out she had been picked, getting ready to head back to the school she'd been a student at as a teacher.
