PERSONALITY
Bretton isn't shy per-say, he just isn't outgoing. He'll talk to people and such when he has something to say, but for the most part, he usually keeps his thoughts and opinions to himself when he's talking to someone that he doesn't know that well. He usually just sits by quietly and allows situations to happen, never really getting involved in them unless he has to. He figures that if he stays out of everyone else's business then they might stay out of his own as well. That is sort of like his golden rule for situations and for the most part it happens to work pretty good, though it doesn't always and sometimes people do try and butt into his personal life. However, as far as that's really concerned there isn't much to find because he'd have to tell them and he really isn't a person that likes to talk about his personal life.
He is also slightly pessimistic. He does have a tendency to look on the down side of things for the most part, and it gets him into a bit of trouble most times. He'll just get to a point where he believes that situation so impossible that he won't even try to do anything to change it or make it better in any way shape or form. His early family life affected his way of thinking because he didn't ever really do himself good by expecting the best out of a situation. So gradually over time he learned that it was just best to think the worst was going to come all the time then try and live in the delusion that the best could come at some point or another. Though, he does hope that maybe something will happen that will cause him to change his way of thinking at times.
He has a bad tendency to hold back his emotions of anger or sadness and allow them to pile up into great amounts over time, causing him to sometimes have some breakdowns from time to time when they all catch up to him. Though usually the strongest emotion that he tends to stockpile isn't sadness, but instead anger. However, he has always found constructive ways to get it out of his system, usually by singing or by going and doing something that is active. He realizes that it probably isn't the most healthy way of doing things, but still does it anyway because it's the only way that he's learned to do things and doesn't know how to break himself of the habit.
APPEARANCE
Bretton stands at a pretty short 5 feet and 7 inches, though he's far used to being one of the shorter guys by now because he's been short his whole life. He has a slim build that goes along nicely with his height though. For the most part, he finds that he has a look that is pretty typical among people around him back home. With his chocolate brown eyes and his light brown hair (that sometimes acquires a slightly red tint to it) that is often seen styled in the longer manner, often falling into his eyes, causing him to have to brush it away quite a bit. He sometimes manages to scrape a tan in the summer, but for the most part during the year his skin tone is usually much more on the pale side of the spectrum.
As for style he usually tries to keep it pretty simple, not that he has the money to go out and buy designer brands anyway. A pair of blue jeans are almost always a must in his outfits for the day, simply because he finds them more comfortable than all the other types of pants out there. As for shirts though he can be pretty diverse in his tastes, every thing from t-shirts, to button-up shirts, to polos he's likely to be wearing. It really just depends on the type of day that he's having when he wakes up as to what he chooses to wear.
HISTORY
Bretton Ferguson was born to parents Alexander and Lisa Ferguson on January 13th, 1991 in Miami, Florida. He was the second and last child born to the couple. His older brother Daniel was 18 by the time that he was born, having been born himself to Alexander and Lisa when the couple was only sixteen. His parents got along well for the most part while he was a little child, but as he grew older, fights between the couple became more frequent and on a larger scale. As a little kid he couldn't ever really grasp what the arguments were about and always just thought that it was pretty normal for parents to fight about whatever it was that they fought about all the time. Mostly because it was pretty normal in the neighborhood that he grew up in. The only times that his parents would ever really put a pause on their bickering was when Daniel came home from school over holiday or summer break, so he came to like those times when his brother came home all the more.
From a young age Bretton was always singing, it was something that he saw a lot of in his household. His parents either hosted or went to karaoke parties on a weekly basis, and once he got old enough he began to get up to the mic and sing when he felt like it as well. Most people were pretty shocked to discover that he did have a good singing voice. He always liked to sing in front of people when he was younger because he liked all the attention that he got and how much everyone else seemed to enjoy it as well. He liked people telling him about how much 'raw talent' he had, it made him feel good. Not to mention that it was always another time his parents were pretty happy for the most part, and didn't fight.
At the age of 9 he began to realize what it was that had his parents fighting so much. His father, he'd come to realize, had a drug problem. His mother was constantly trying to get him to stop because of the fact that she was scared he'd get caught someday, but of course his father didn't want to stop. And that was always were the arguments began. He finally began to realize just how serious the problem was and that was good too, because he was going to need to realize it for what happened next. All of his mothers warnings about getting caught finally came true when he was about 11 years old and his father was taken to jail. His mother, couldn't deal with the stress of staying in Miami or apparently staying around him. So he was sent off to live with his now 28 year old brother and his wife in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Daniel and Rebecca took him in with open arms of course. And he restarted school, making new friends and trying his best to fit in. Daniel sometimes asked for Bretton to sing because he remembered how much he used to love it, but he always turned his brother down saying that he didn't feel like. However, about a year later he started finding out that singing was the best way to relieve his stress so he did start singing more often. Daniel and Rebecca signed him up for some classes so that he could get better though, because they saw that he seemed to be more peaceful and himself while singing. He took the classes with a bit of reluctance at first, but soon found that he liked them and liked being able to sing a lot more. While he kept advancing Daniel and Rebecca tried to find something more for him that would do him even better. They stumbled across a website pointing them toward Gordan Parks' and were interested in it. They set up an audition for him and hoped that he'd be able to get a scholarship because they didn't have the money to send him otherwise.
They got their wish and soon enough they found Bretton heading off for his first year of school at the Academy with a full scholarship. He did well in his first two years and found that he loves being at the Academy and considers it his second home.
