PERSONALITY
The one word that could be used to sum up Ayla's personality is determined - she will fight to no end in order to get what she wants if she wants it badly enough. She's a very stubborn girl who doesn't stop at anything when she believes she is right, and she has no problem making it known either. She's not someone who'll usually be nicer to make sure she doesn't hurt someone else's feelings, though she's not a bitch either - she's just blunt and to the point, when she wants to be. However, she is a pretty good liar, especially when it comes to getting herself out of babysitting for her parents or aunts and uncles, which would probably cause her to have no social life during the summer at all if she agreed to it. She's a bit short tempered and her temper fly high when it gets started, which often causes people who know her well to avoid pissing her off.
Ayla can often comes out as a spoiled person, because she was indeed spoiled a lot as a child and her princessy attitude can be seen in some points of view. But people who know her well are aware that, though she's an extremely demanding girl and isn't too happy when she doesn't get what she wants, she works to get there. She doesn't just wait for things to fall in her hands, she will do what she can in order to achieve whatever her goal is. She's a very hard working person, and she's a great helper too, for all she seems like someone who only cares about herself. She's a very sweet girl to the people she loves, she can be nice, friendly and gentle when her help is needed and she's great when it comes to listening or comforting her closest friends if they're hurt.
She's also a very active girl who loves sports, especially swimming and diving. She's done her school teams quite a lot as a kid and she's still one of the bests, if not the best, in her classes up to this day. She's not so much for sports that involve a lot of running, but things like badminton, tennis or volleyball are some of her favorites. She can still be pretty girlie at times, and when she goes to the beach with her cousins back at home, she'll be more the type to spend the day tanning on the beach than playing a game of volleyball or going for a swim with them. She also has a very contradictory mind, mostly when it comes to her mother, and she rarely does as is told if she doesn't want to - just like she'll rarely care about being forbidden to do something. She has the bad habit of falling for the wrong guys as she's mostly attracted to bad boys, but most of the time she'd smart enough to get herself out of a bad situation before it gets worse.
APPEARANCE
From the top of her five feet five inches, Ayla is probably not the tallest girl about but her way of being and her personality make her a lot more imposing than she would seem at a first glance. She takes great cares with her appearance, though she's not necessarily overly bothered by make up and such - mostly, she'll try and make her bright blue eyes come out a bit more (eyeshadows, eyeliner and mascara) and aside from that she'll content herself with tinted lipgloss. With her peaches and cream complexion and dark brown hair that she usually leaves long and wavy, she has nothing to envy to anybody else when it comes to the looks department. She is a very pretty girl, which most people agree on without much of a problem, and she knows how to enlighten her best features to make it seem more obvious.
Not the thinnest girl around, Ayla couldn't be called fat or even overweight, but she does have a bit more width to her body than some girls - which her parents usually go about saying that it makes her cutely plump, an expression which she loathes above all; she would rather be called fat. But her slight excess of weight only makes her look healthier and more womanly, and though she would like to lose some of it, she actually feels pretty good about her body seeing as most of it is toned. But she dresses accordingly to her body type, and empire style dresses and shirts have become some of her favorite style. She never wears bikinis or skirts that are very short, and she tends to have a little vest or shirt on when she wears a tank top to cover her upper arms.
HISTORY
Ayla was born on April 3rd, 1991, in the general hospital of San Francisco. She was the second child of Kaida and William DeLaney, her oldest brother Jack being two at that time, and two years later little Charlotte joined the family. From that moment, Ayla became the spoiled princess of the family, because her parents were so scared of her feeling left out that they put more attention on her than they should have, her father especially, and she gladly welcomed the attention. She was a very temperate little girl, throwing several temper tantrums a week in order to get what she wanted, and that didn't change a lot as she grew older. It actually increased quite a bit in her early years, once twins Bridget and Benjamin joined the family after she turned five years old, and finally little Kenneth when she was nine. She always made sure that, no matter how many younger siblings she had, she'd never lose the amount of attention she'd gathered over the years, and it worked until she grew tired of the tantrums and realized there were more efficient ways of getting what she wanted.
But her character and personality was not much changed, and from that moment she was always the determined, strong headed girl she still is today with a talent for getting what she wants. She grew a lot closer to her older brother through the years, never really attached to any of her younger siblings who stole the attention she wanted on her, the worst being Charlie whom she constantly and incessantly fought with, their personalities being completely opposites. But the person she found herself involved in fights with the most was her controlling, over the top mother. Kaida could see a lot of herself in Ayla, and she knew that it hadn't ever really done her any good to be that way in her younger years, and so it caused her to be stricter with her than she ought to have been, leading to many unecessary and harsh disagreements between mother and daughter.
When she was thirteen, Ayla actually got fed up with it all and ran away. She didn't have all that much money, just a bit from her few babysitting jobs, and at first she didn't really know where to go seeing as she was pretty sure that most of her aunts and uncles living in San Francisco would force her to go back home. In the end, she hopped on a bus to Los Angeles and headed over to her mother's sister's house. Though she was of course, in due time, returned to her parents' house after she made up with her mother, it caused her to grow a bit closer to her older cousin Holly - though even more apart from Victorya, whom she spent most of her stay there bitching around with Holly - and that was how she heard of Gordon Parks' Academy.
Holly, being fourteen, had already registered and had been accepted to the school as a film student. As soon as Ayla saw all the information about it, she made up her mind to go. Since the age of eight, she'd been taking small acting classes and had joined the drama club in school, and she'd fell in love with the stage. Knowing that she could improve and live through her passion during four entire years was enough to want to leave home and family without a single regret. As soon as she got back home, she argued it until she was out of breath with her father and mother, and sent her application in spite of their reluctance. In the end, it didn't matter to her whether they said yes or no, and she received her acceptance letter before they'd even agreed to the whole idea. They weren't exactly happy about that, but seeing as she'd gotten a full scholarship on top of it all, she was given permission and a year later, she packed up her stuff and boarded a plane to Kansas City.
