PERSONALITY
Addison - though she prefers being called Addie by her friends - is the perfect example of an artist's cliché personality, and at the same time she's anything but that. Personality wise, she's almost like fire and water, sugar and spice, all her traits clashing against the other, as though she has a double personality, and yet it doesn't make her seem weird or anything. It is merely the way she is and it only makes her even more interesting when you get to know her. Her differences often make her parents tease her slightly, saying that there are probably two people actually trapped in her body.
Following that pattern of thought, she describes her first personality as the 'sugary' one. Sweet and soft, nice with a heart of gold, she's caring for the people she loves. She would gladly sacrifice herself if it comes as any help to her friends - her real friends, that is. She is very friendly and will easily talk to anybody as she loves meeting new people. She is loving and caring, very forgiving as well, though very exclusive to those she truly let in. Some would say that when that side comes out, she is easy to handle and it's the best time to ask something from her as she is unlikely to refuse, unless it is something she is against, as she will never go against her convinctions even for her friends or family.
Unlike her sweet side, her second personality is the spicey one. Smart, passionate, firey and high spirited, she has a hell of a temper if you offend her in any way - which can be pretty easy at time, especially if you catch her when she is in a bad mood. Highly vindictive if one of her friend is hurt or messed with, she will not hesitate to knock someone out, and don't be fooled by her appearance - she has a heck of a right hook for her size. She is very determined to a point where it reaches hard headedness, but she never gives up if she is certain of being right. She rarely argues, but if she is convinced that she is right, she will fight til no end to prove it. Very outgoing and a party girl, she is talented and marginal, special in her very own way.
APPEARANCE
Appearance is no concern of Addison really - she is the way she is and she's happy with that. She doesn't consider herself a beauty, nor does she think herself plain, but either way she feel good about herself and to her that's the most important thing. But actually, with her sparkly and full of life hazel eyes (sometimes more brownish, but mostly green), she has made more than one boy's heartbeat quicken. Her looks reflect all of her personality as once, making it a strange yet good mix. 5 feet 1 inches tall, slim and pale skinned, though not to the point where she seems to have no color at all, she can easily make head turns when she goes her way.
Addison's hair has changed rather often all through her teenagehood. Now wearing it medium lenght and blonde, which is her natural colour, she has also experienced several other colours (including a flashy shade of red that stands out in a crowd) and cut, from spikey short to a length that reached down her back. Her hair is actually, for her, a very good way of expressing herself; she styles it according to her mood.
She is also a very stylish girl, in her own way. Not really a fashion fan, she wears anything she likes. She has many articles of clothing in her closet that can be considered as punk, goth, preppy, hippy, rock’n’roll, 80s, anything really. She especially loves skirts – she has loads of very different styles. Bohemian, jeans, long or short, anything but mini skirts… and even then she has one or two, though she doesn’t wear them very often. She also owns load of jewelry (big necklaces are her favorite), and she’s also a shoe whore – she has too many to count.
HISTORY
March 24th 1991, in a small hospital located somewhere in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Emily Blythe swears for about ten hours at her pale faced husband until she finally gets the baby out of her body. Around 11:30 pm, Addison is born, seven weeks early with a heart condition that worries all the doctors in the place. Forced to stay in a incubator for the first two months of her life until she’s moved to the hospital’s nursery with the other babies, and then finally allowed to go back home with her worried parents, she grows up with a weak heart, spending most days of the week at the hospital instead of at home, until she goes through major surgery at 8 years old. By then, she’s already grown to be who she still is now – knowing how precious and special life is, she doesn’t intend to lose a single second of it.
By the age of ten, she’s already proven her interest in every form of art. Guitarist, talented singer and creative writer, she loves everything that revolves around the arts. However, her parents soon notice that despite her love for each and every kind of art, her painting and drawing talents exceed the others by far. They sign her up for some classes which she enjoys, but not all that much. She wants to be able to paint freely, she wants her inspiration only to tell her what to do – not a wrinkly smelly old teacher. After many discussions with her parents, they finally allow her to drop out of her painting classes and instead buy her all the material they can afford and renovate the office room, taking out the desk and bookcase to give her some place to let her imagination run freely across the room – literally as the walls are painted white so that she can draw on them if she wants to.
When she turns twelve years old, Addison - as well as her mother, for all its worth - receives the biggest shock of her life when her parents divorce, his father having fallen in love with someone else along his numerous work required trips, leaving most of the family friends speechless at the surprise, for Emilie and Christopher always gave the impression that they were the happiest couple on earth. Addison is left with the choice of which parent she wants to stay with, and in her mind, the choice is clear - her father is abandoning them and she won't follow him for anything in the world. He moves to Toronto soon after the divorce is taken care of, and Addie and her mother stay in the same little apartment for a few months, until Emilie's is fired from her old job. She decides to move with her daughter - and by moving, she doesn't mean three streets ahead or half an hour away. Together, they go all the way to Kansas City, Kansas, where Emilie had first met her husband. Addie resents the move a bit, and especially the place - she dislikes most things that reminds her of her father, and she would prefer any other place than his home town. But she knows her mother would rather have her feeling as homey and surrounded as possible, and seeing as her own parents are deceased and she had no siblings, she wants Addie to keep as close as possibly to her father's side of the family, and maybe someday be ready to talk to him again.
The plan works on some account, and though Addison still refuses any contact with her father, never opening the letters, Christmas presents and birthday cards he sends, she grows very close to her aunt and cousins who live nearby. That's how she first hears about Gordon Parks', her eldest cousin herself being a graduate from the Photography class, and her goal is now set - she wants to be part of that school. However, she is well aware that her mother doesn't have the money to send her there, and she figures a scholarship would be the best way to go. However, when she first applies at the end of 8th grade, her average in school is not good enough and just after the summer starts, she receives a rejection letter. Feeling as though there's not much worth to anything else anymore, she decides she might as well do whatever she wants and enjoy it rather than trying to become something. Her short period of depression and rebellion leads her to hang out with her cousin's friends and she then discovers the full meaning of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, along with the effects of alcohol and all that goes with it. It is also during that summer that Addie discovers for the first time her attraction to girls as well as to boys, and she's more than happy to experience on either sides.
When she goes back to school, she is completely changed, but she realizes that the way she acts is nothing more than self destruction, and her mother needs her more than her group of friends. She decides to tone down a bit, and starts discovering herself, her true personality, as she pours her heart and soul over school work, getting high grades and honors all through the year and trying, for a second time, to apply for a scholarship at Gordon Parks', this time being accepted. By the time she goes there, she's already elvolved to be more like the person she is to this day. Bright, carefree, cheerful and friendly with a bit of craziness on the sides. She loves her friends to the extreme, just like she loathes her enemies within an inch of their lives.
