PERSONALITY
Quiet doesn't even begin to cover how Ian is. He spends most of his time alone, working on his homework, or in the music classrooms, practicing piano, guitar or violin. He's a very talented person, kind of heart and doesn't judge anybody without getting to know them first - which means he hardly judges anybody at all as he doesn't get to know many people. He's never really had any close friends, though he does talk to those who come to talk to him, a little reluctantly maybe, because of his calm and shy nature, but still willingly. However, the mere fact that he doesn't seem comfortable with being talked to is often enough for other people to leave him alone and not come back, and as he never starts conversation himself, it causes him to be a very lonely guy. He doesn't mind all that much, though he does sometimes wonder what it'd be like to have a real heart to heart conversation with someone.
He has a small jealous strike as well, though he's never really had the chance to experience it, he knows he would probably be the kind to be that way if anything lead to it. He feels extremely awkward around girls, especially pretty ones, and has been known to have made a fool of himself while talking to one as he couldn't exactly control the words coming out of his mouth. Point being, he's simply not used to talking at all, he usually lets the music talk for him. He's a very sensitive person and has no shame in crying when something touches him or hurts him, and he's very loyal to those he love, even if it's a small number. He would gladly be hurt himself instead of watching someone he loves being hurt, his mother's death having made him this way. He's still not completely over it and often feels there's a part of him missing, a part she took with her when she left. But overall, he's still a rather happy guy, just quiet.
His music too is most definitely a part of his personality. Since he's not good with words, he usually lets the instruments talk for him. You can know how he feels by the way his fingers touch the keys of the piano and stroke the chords of the guitar. He mainly plays violin when he's angry at something and needs to let his frustrations out, which explains why his songs are always so passionate. The piano songs he plays are usually nostalgic, slightly sad, while the guitar ones are happier, more cheerful. Of course, it sometimes changes from an instrument to another - just because he often plays faster and harder songs on his violin, it doesn't mean he can't play a happy one with it. But it is an habit of his.
APPEARANCE
From the top of his 6 feet, Ian is a very attractive guy, that can't exactly be denied. Though he's definitely not the charmer, his looks have attracted a number of girls quite a few times, though there were often driven away by his lack of enthousiasm at their approach. He doesn't really mind - he doesn't want a girl who likes him for his looks. His dark brown hair, which he usually wears a bit longer - it could probably reach down his ears if he straightened it - never actually looks as though it's been taken care of, but it only looks better that way, and the combination between the dark hair and his bright blue eyes, that sometimes look like a light shade of green in a different light, is simply stunning. Well built with a tanned skin, he really doesn't have anything to envy to other guys.
He keeps his dressing style plain and simple. Jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, and he's ready to go. He actually often looks as though he's just picked up something off the floor, the first thing he's seen, and it just so happens that it goes well together - which isn't actually really hard as practically everything goes with jeans. When he has to 'dress up', he usually chooses a darker color of jeans with a nice clean button up shirt, but he's really not one for fashion. As long as it fits and it's comfortable, he's alright with it and it's all that matters to him. Shopping could actually be described as torture to him - he'd prefer having to wear the same clothes all over again than to go out on a shopping trip, especially with a girl, namely his younger step-sister. When he wants to look more like he's actually put some thought into his dressing, he ends up wearing hats and belts, but that's pretty much it. Really, for him, simple is best.
HISTORY
Ian Michael Reeves came to this world at one past midnight on the first of January 1991, instantly worrying all those who were in the room as it took him a while before he started crying. However, there was no worry to have - he was soon declared to be a perfectly healthy baby boy and left the hospital with his parents two days later. Being first and last born to Robert and Angela Reeves, Ian grew up to be a quiet boy for most of his life. He was never seen talking, unless he was being spoken to, and it was very hard to say whether he was in the house or not as he rarely made any kind of noise. His mother didn't feel quite comfortable about that and took him to several doctors thorought his childhood, who all tried to reassure her, saying everything was fine with the boy, he simply was a quiet little chap. At one point, she decided herself to give up, figuring that quietness wasn't such a bad thing.
However, Angela Reeves had spent so much time seeing to her son'S health that she had stopped worrying about her own. When Ian turned six, she found out she had brain cancer and taht the tumor was too big to be taken out. It was a shock to the small family, but Angela decided to make the most of the little amount of time she had left with her husband and son before dying. It was only a year later, shortly after Ian turned seven, that she deceased. After his mother's death, he who'd always been quiet became even more silent, hardly even talking anymore, leaving his bedroom only when it was entirely necessary. This time, the worry was real, and his father, who was still grieving, having loved his wife very strongly and feeling lost without her, simply didn't know what to do for the small boy, being a rather quiet man himself. The house remained this silent for two full years until the day a new woman entered Robert Reeves' life. She was just as nice and caring as his first wife, but Ian didn't see it that way, and for the first time in his life, he made noise. Lots of it. His father was definitely lost this time, not knowing at all what to do - he'd fallen in love for a second time, but his son was more important to him than anything else. Thankfully enough, after a while of rebelling, Ian realized how unhappy and confused his father was and decided that he shouldn't be selfish to a man who'd spent so much time taking care of him. Following a long night of discussion, during which many words and tears were exchanged, Hannah Wright, soon-to-be Reeves, entered the two men's life, bringing along a small four year old daughter, Ruby.
It took a while of adjusting, but Ian grew fond of his step-mother, who was more of a friend, though he never forgot his real mother, and also learned to like his little sister, soon learning how to play the role of the protective older brother. Hannah's presence brought a lot of change in the house, one especially - she brought music into it. Being a pianist herself, she decided to teach Ian and discovered a very strong talent in him, with a fast ability to learn and an extremely well developped musical ear. By the time he was thirteen, he'd learned how to play guitar and violin as well, impressing all the teachers he had, though piano remained his favorite. It was as though he'D finally found a way of expressing himself without having to talk, and that was definitely a good thing. Even now, he expresses his emotions through his music - since he started composing at twelve - and it's practically the only way of knowing how he feels. Music has truely opened the door to a new way of living for him, and the house is rarely silent anymore when he's home, seeing as he's always either playing or listening to music.
When he first heard about Gordon Parks' Academy, he was already close to entering Freshman year in highschool, making it an impossibility for him to enter then, knowing he'd have to obtain a scholarship, his father being unable to afford something that expensive. He made it his goal to enter by any way he could and spent more time than ever on his studies and music during his freshman year, obtaining the wanted scholarship for the three remaining years. It was extremely hard for him to leave his father, and even his step-mother and step-sister, but he knew it was worth it, and as soon as he set foot in the music classroom, he felt as though he'd been handed the key to Heaven, and it was attached to the coolest teacher he'd ever had, who managed to make his passion for music grow even more.
