Serena Vanessa Marymont-who preferred to go by Vanessa, thank you very much-dragged her suitcase down the hallway towards her dorm room. It was in a different part of the Amelia Mary Earhart Building than she had been in the past two years, but how bad could it be? She adjusted the strap of her purse, which was cutting into her shoulder, repeating the mantra of her room number over and over in her head. 213...213...213... As she finally passed 201, she sighed in relief. The backpack, purse, and rolling suitcases were certainly making walking difficult, and it would be nice to collapse onto a bed and just relax. Although she had slept on the flight on the way over, she still was rather exhausted. All the excitement and stress of coming back to Gordon Parks' usually did that to her. She had discovered that over the past two years.
She grinned to herself. Two years. She was a junior now, an upperclassman. While not entirely an impressive feat, at least she wasn't an underclassman anymore. Like any other school, underclassmen got the brunt of school teasing. Vanessa had naively assumed that Gordon Parks' would be different...However, a senior boy had rigged up something near the an underclassmen classroom that was basically a hair dryer that would blow up the girls' skirts. Vanessa had been the first girl out, and of course got the brunt of it. She shook her head at the memory, and glanced up at the room she was near. 213...213! With an excited gasp, she let go of her rolling suitcases, and fumbled in her pocket for her key. She held her breath, waiting for it to open-as if it wouldn't-and with a click, the door swung back.
I thought I had a room mate...I guess she's not here yet. The brunette brought her luggage over to the bed on the far wall, the one near underneath a window. The dorm was on the corner, so the adjacent wall also had a bed underneath a window. Dropping her purse on the currently bare bed, Vanessa began pulling a fluffy light pink blanket out of her bag, and then pulled the beige curtains away from the window, letting the sun stream in. She happily set to work outfitting her bed with the pink and black fluffy pillow and blanket set she had brought with her; after, of course, she changed the school's sheets for her own. After this was done, she leaned against the pillow, which she had propped up high against the head board, and sighed.
"I'm back." she whispered, a smile curling her lips as she dozed lightly.[/color]
