Still unpacking

[Alexis Donovan]

You would never know that Alexis Victoria Donovan had been in school for almost a month. Nothing much was really unpacked. The few things she managed to take out of her bags were her clothes, her bathroom things, sheets, her cell phone, and a picture of her, Cara, Rhyan, and Tailor. The other stuff wasn't really very important. When she needed something, she would just find it in some bag or another. She mainly did this just because it drove Cara mad. Yes, Cara is her all time best friend, but she also likes to tease her every now and again. But, Cara told Alexis that if she didn't have everything unpacked by today she'd call their mom and rat her out. Jessica would flip if she knew Alexis was being lazy. So, today Alexis was finally going to unpack everything else. She wondered what was even in half of these bags. She really did not want to find out. She even thought about calling Cara and asking her to just do it for her. Alexis knew if she begged enough, Cara would cave and just do it. But, she knew Cara was off doing something or other with Vanessa.

She picked up the first bag, and looked inside it. This bag was filled with her DS, Gameboy SP, and her PSP. Plus, all the games that came with it. She laughed. She didn't even remember packing all this. Then, she remembered that she made Heather, her personal maid, pack everything for her. She placed all of her game things under her bed. She didn't really know of another place to put them. She figured that under the bed was the best place, anyways. Who would ever think to look under her bed? Well, besides Cara that is. With all her game stuff, she threw the bag it came in under the bed, too. She thought about hanging it up, but then thought better or it. Alexis sat on her bed for a moment. It was then, she saw a note with her name on it. She read it out loud, "A, please make sure that you just don't throw everything under you bed. You know that's not putting things away! Love, C." Alexis threw the note away in her trash. She could not believe her sister would do that. She wondered how she even got into her dorm room. But, Cara was tricky and always got what she wanted.

Alexis looked at the other three bags filled with stuff. She groaned loudly. Thankfully, her cell phone rang. She dove onto her bed, and answered it. About twenty minutes later, she hung up her phone, and looked at all the other bags. She rolled her eyes, and just pushed them under her bed. She picked up her phone, and txted Cara. "C, bags are away. A." She smiled, and pulled out her DS, and put in brain age. Alexis laid down on her bed, and started to play.

Abigail walked in from a long day of her classes. She had her photography class, and her other major subjects to attend to. It was about 5 in the afternoon and because she hadn't slept the night before, she decided that it would be best to stay awake until after dinner at least. Abigail hated when she didn't get to sleep the night before. She always felt so out of it. But it happens. Especially when she's got things on her mind and especially when she just has a lot of homework and what not to do. Abigail seen that Alexis was sitting on her bed playing with the little gadget everyone seemed to have called the Nintendo DS. She smirked a little to herself and walked in, shutting the door behind her.

"Hey Alex." Abigail smiled. She walked over to her bed, put her key on her nightstand and sat down on her bed, taking her messenger bad off and setting it on the floor. She laid back on her bed with a huff and looked at her cell phone. It was 5:17 PM and it made her huff again. "How's your day been?" Abigail sat up again, plugged her charger into her sidekick and sat back on her bed, looking at her roommate. Abigail still didn't know Alexis that much but she knew she was a pretty cool chick and was glad she had a laid back person for a roommate. The last one she had was a senior and this year was told she would have a freshmen as a roommate. At first she was skeptical considering the fact that she heard stories about how dreadful freshmen were but found that, Alexis was pretty awesome.

When Alexis saw Abby walk into the room, she gave her a pretty sweet smile. "Hi Abby!" She said, and looked up from her Brain Age game. She felt a little silly, really. A fourteen year old girl really shouldn't be playing with a Nintendo DS, but it was something she liked to do when she got very bored. Plus, it really bothered her that her dizty sister had gotton a high Brain Score than she did. In fact, that drove her nuts. Cara had just picked it up, played, and then beat Alexis' high score by at least nineteen points. She didn't try to hide her DS, though. She sort of, in a way, liked how it made her still seem like a young kid. She knew that she really isn't, but she still thinks of herself as a little girl...sometimes. Also, she's been told that she has a 'little girl face.' lex really doesn't believe that, but lets people think whatever they want.

"My day was pretty boring, really." She turned off her game, and threw it to the end of her bed. She should put it away, but maybe Abby wanted to play it or something. She didn't mind if she wanted to. "I finally er....unpacked." Alexis looked around and giggled. If she looked under her bed, you could see all her bags and such. Too bad. "I wouldn't have even done anything if Cara didn't sneak in here and leave me a note, plus text me to do it every three seonds..." She wondered if maybe Abby had let Cara in? She wasn't sure....but did want to know how the hell she had managed to get into a locked dorm room. "How was your day today, Abby? Not as boring as mine...I hope."

Abigail smiled a little and just nodded her head. "Yeah, Cara came by earlier while you were out, but she came just as I was leaving and said she was dropping something off for you so I just let her in as I left. I hope you don't mind." Abigail smiled lightly remembering the conversation between herself and Cara. Abigail heard her phone vibrate. She picked it up and laughed a little, texting Spencer back. Abigail sat her phone back down and looked at Alexis.

"Well at least your day wasn't too bad. Mine was pretty much, class... class... and more class. All I can hear about it everyone talking about Homecoming. I can understand for freshmen why you guys are excited, but even the seniors are. I'm just like... wait.. Prom is our big thing. Not homecoming." Abigail just laughed and got up and started to change her clothes from her jeans and her t-shirt to a pair of sweat pants and a black wife beater. She sat back down, grabbing a drink out of her little mini-fridge. "Want one?" She asked Alexis. "So are you excited about Homecoming? I think you should go. You'd look gorgeous in a pretty fancy dress." Abigail laughed lightly.

Alexis giggled when Abby said that he had indeed let Cara into their room. "It's ok. I figured that she just would have broken down the door and let herself in if you hadn't been here..." Alexis then looked over at a side table that was next to her bed. A hair brush, iPod, nail polish, and lip gloss were on the table, but her extra key wasn't there. "Abby," Alexis asked, "Did you happen to see where my extra key went? I had it right here on the table next to my bed." She started to look around the table for it. She needed it, because Lex just knew that she'd end up losing the first key that the school had given her. "Oh my God..." Alex said a few minutes later, "Did Cara take it? That little..." She started to mutter a few words that she knew that she shouldn't. "Ugh. This means I'm gonna have to fight her for it." She giggled again, and laid down on her bed.

"Yes please, I'd love one." Alex took the drink from Abby, and started to sip it. "Yes! I cannot wait to go! It would be my first homecoming dance! At my old school, we didn't really ever have one because it was only for the High School students..." She thought about the dresses that she had. "I don't really have anything overly amazing." She sighed, "I mean, I have pretty dresses...but I've worn them all before. I need something new." She placed the drink on her table, "Maybe you could come with me to pick something out?" She gave Abby a warm smile, "It would be nice to go with someone who ended up getting everything in the store..." She thought about just this Summer and when Cara took Alexis back to school shopping. Cara ended up spending over four thousand dollars on things she didn't even need! It was terrible. "Only if you'd like, of course."

Abigail smiled. Alexis was probably one of the only freshmen she knew that she was really close to and friends with. Maybe it was just because they were roommates. Abigail smirked. No it wasn't even that. Alexis was just cool like that. Alexis was a little like her friends back at home. Not EXACTLY the same but she'd definitely hang out with her if Alexis lived back in Newcastle. Abigail opened her drink and took a long drink from it. "I'm not sure if she took it or not..." Abigail trailed off. She hoped Alexis wouldn't have a problem getting the key back. It was important for her to have two keys. Alexis and Abigail were alike when it came to this: They lost stuff easily.

"That sucks. I've been to the homecoming here before, in my freshmen year. It was quite cool. I don't know if I'm going this year though. I'm not really big into dresses, heh." Abigail sighed a little and took another drink of her drink. She looked at her phone to check the time and looked back at Alexis. "Hell yeah I'll go with you." Abigail smiled big. The only person she ever went shopping with was Gabrial and Spencer, and her best friend back at home and her aunt sometimes. "I'm not sure I'll be great at picking out dresses but I'll try my best. Oh, and if you can't find anything there, I might have something. You and I are probably the same size so I got you covered either way." Abigail smiled and took another drink. Shopping with Alexis could be interesting. Their styles aren't exactly the same but she could tell Alexis did know how to dress and had pretty good taste in fashion.

It didn't really matter too, too much if Cara took it. She knew that she'd get it back one of these days. "It's ok." She sighed, "I am so used to that girl taking things out of my room and then nit returning them. Oh my God, she does that all the time at home and it drives me insane!" It was so true it was scary. Back in North Carolina, Cara was always walking into Alexis' room and taking whatever it was that she wanted. The two girls each got their own bathroom, and Cara would always go into Alexis' and take her brush or something and then not give it back until Lexi had to beg her and tell her hat she'd look like shit without it. The same thing went for clothes. Both girls are the same size, and tend to share clothes. But, Alex always asked Cara- but Cara never asked! She just walked into Lex's huge walk-in closet and take shoes, shirts, skirts, whatever. "Abby, do you have any siblings?"

"Not going this year?" Alexis tilted her head to the side, "What are you talking about, Abby?" She sat up on her bed, "You have to go. I thought that we could go dress shopping together!" She was looking forward to it. "But, I'm so, so, so, so glad that you said that you'd come with me. That will be so much fun!" She beamed with her cute little "toothy grin". It was the same smile that her little sister gave her when she wanted something.

Abigail smiled. She never had any sisters to do that with. She had her cousins which she thought of as sisters and brothers but never any real siblings. Abigail just looked at Alexis and smiled a little. She shook her head no about the siblings. "Nope. No siblings here. My cousins were always like siblings to me. But that's the closest I got to siblings." Abigail smiled a little and sat back a little more on her bed.

"I don't know really if I'm going to go though, Alex. I don't have anyone to go with and I just... I don't know." Abigail sighed a little and walked over to her mirror and desk. "I will deffiniately go with you to go dress shopping though." Abigail smiled and pulled her pony tail out from her hair. She put her hands in her hair and roughed it up a bit before taking her brush and started to brush out the tangles out. Her makeup was a little rubbed off. She took a tissue, after she was done brushing her hair, and wiped off the smudge of eyeliner and little bit of lipstick she had on.

When Alexis heard that Abigail had no siblings, she didn't know if she felt bad for her...or wished she was in her shoes. She wondered what life would be like without Rhyan, Cara, and Tailor. The thought somehow made her sad. Rhyan is her protector. He never let anything happen to her...ever. He was always there to make sure what she didn't have to have any pain when she was a child. It was so nice to have him as a big brother. Cara. Cara was just her overall best friend ever. She was there whenever and where ever Alexis needed her. It didn't matter what type of trouble Alexis got in, Cara could somehow always get her out of it. Alex really did see Cara as her role model in life. And Tailor, well, Tailor is Alexis' mini-me. She does everything that Alexis does. It really is so cute. When Lexi took an acting class, Tailor had to take one too. When Lexi wanted to paint her room, Tailor did too. When Lexi wanted to get all new clothes, Tailor did too. It was kind of...sweet to have someone that looks up to you. It was just how she felt about Cara. "You know, you can always borrow Cara..." Alexis playfully rolled her eyes, "Maybe she'll steal your key every now and again!"

"Abby," Alex said, and sat down on Abigail's bed, "You need to go because this is your last year at GPA...so don't you wanna have the best year you can?" That's what she'd want to do, anyways. She sighed a little. Plus, she would want one of her best friends there. "Just think about it...ok?" She stood up again, and started to walk around their room. It seemed to be really...small. She wondered why that was. It then occurred to her that it must be because she room at home is like ten times the size of this. She couldn't help but smile to herself. "I want a little black dress." She had a devious smirk on her lips.

Abigail had to think of it for a moment. Logan, Brooke, Gemma, Ginny, Drake, and Kerian were her best friends and cousins. Gemma and Ginny were the twins, they did everything together. Brooke was the oldest and was more focused on protecting her little brothers and sisters she barely had time for friends. Logan was such a ladies man he always had a girl around him or was chasing after girls. Drake was always torturing Gemma and Ginny cause they were the youngest. Kerian was Abigail's little man though. He was like her shadow. Abigail and him were inseparable back home. She missed her family a lot. Even her mother. Which was kinda sad to say but the truth.

"Okay, Okay your right." Abigail scoffed, pretending to be mad and crossed her arms. She couldn't be mad at Alexis though and just laughed. "I'll go." Abigail smiled and got up. She bent down and pulled a box out from under her bed. "If you ever tell anyone bout this box, I'm not going cause then every girl in GPA will want something from it." Abigail spoke as she walked over to Alexis' bed and sat down. She opened the box and it was filled with expensive jewelry and such that Abigail had collected over time. "I figure this box would come in handy." Abigail smiled and let Alexis look through the box a bit.

"When will you people all understand," Alexis giggled, "That I, Alexis Victoria Donovan, am always right!" She twirled her hair in her fingers. "Oh!" She let go of her hair when Abigail said she would go. "Oh! I'm so, so, so, so, so happy that you said you'd go!" She threw her arms around her. "You're the best. I knew that you'd end up going." It would be awesome if everyone ended up going. It would be a chance for Alex to get to know everyone a little bit better. Being only a freshman, she's only met a few upper class man. She's heard of a lot of them, though. It was just putting a face with a name that she was lacking. There was a few people that she didn't really want to meet, though. The stories that she's heard....but it's not like she can believe all of them. She wasn't there, so she can't confirm it. A rumor is only as good as the person telling it.

When Abby got up, Alexis wondered what she was doing. She saw her go under her bed, she was a little confused. Was she going into a fort? She giggled at this thought. When she pulled out a box, she smiled. Oh! So she was getting a box. "Why? What's in it?" When Abigail opened the box, Alexis' mouth fell to the floor. This was the type of jewelry she mother would not let her bring to GPA. If Alexis ever lost it or broke it- her mother would KILL her. She let Cara bring a few, but not Alexis. She started to wonder why this was... But Jessica did let Lexi bring her white gold and diamond locket."Oh Abby! These are beautiful!" She carefully picked up a diamond necklace. "I have one like this at home...I love it!" She was almost scared to do anything else with it. She thought back to when she was eight years old and broke her mother's $10,000 diamond necklace. To this day, Jessica still hasn't forgiven her. "This is really amazing. I cannot believe that your mom let you bring all this!"

Abigail smiled. She was glad Alexis liked the jewelry. Abigail sighed when Alexis said "your mom". 'If only she knew', Abigail thought to herself. She wondered if Cara knew about the fact Abigail's mom didn't raise her. Abigail threw the thoughts our of her head. It wasn't the time to bring up sad things. Abigail just smiled with delight as Alexis carefully went through the big box. Is was about a foot and a half wide and about a foot deep. Abigail loved her jewelry. This box was her most prized possession. Yeah everything wasn't real gold or real silver or anything but most of it was. She loved it!

"Yeah. I got that for my Sweet 16. My Aunt Chloe said 'Diamonds are a girl's best friend and you deserve the bestest friend of them all.' She's great." Abigail couldn't help but laugh. Her aunt was amazing. Closest thing to a mom. She often wished she was her mom but it was okay because they looked like mother and daughter so she just let people think that Chloe was her mother. Abigail pulled out a necklace that was silver choker and had a red ruby for a heart hanging from it that hung down about 7 inches. "This is what Spencer got for me on our one year when we dated. This is probably my favorite necklace, next to that one in this box. Besides my rainbow colored choker." Abigail smiled. "I think I might get a dress to match this because I'm going to ask Spencer tonight if he wants to go to HC with me." Abigail blushed and held it in her hand. "Okay, so if you don't find a lot of gold, sorry, I'm a bigger fan of silver and platinum really,heh. But go ahead and look through it. Tell Cara she can borrow something too." Abigail smiled, got up, walked over to her bed and sat the necklace down on her nightstand and took a drink of her drink.

"That's one hell of a sweet sixteen gift. I haven't had my sweet sixteen yet, but I cannot wait until I do. I was born in the summer and I live on the beach...so beach party!" She had a beach party every year...but her sweet sixteen one would be the best. "Oh! Abby! That necklace is beautiful, too. I cannot believe that a guy picked that one out." She got a better look at it. The ruby in the middle was amazing. In her life, she has seen many rubies (It's Cara's birthstone) and has only seen one that was even close to this one's beauty. Cara had a ruby diamond white gold necklace that Jessica gave her because she cleaned her room! Can you believe that? But, Jessica was always doing stuff like that. It was sort of her way of saying sorry for what happened to their dad. Of course it wasn't her fault, but she didn't like her kids to be sad. "That's ok...about the gold thing." She looked down at her locket, "I only like white gold, anyways." She looked into the box again. "Cara has her own stuff." She didn't really...want to share with her sister. Her whole damn life she's had to share with her. It was time that she didn't.

Alexis got up, too. She walked over to Hamlet's really cool cage. She opened it up, and picked him up. She was so glad that she got to bring Hamlet to school with her. She did really miss Juliet and Dodger, though. She even missed Ballet...a little. "Abby," Alexis said and placed Hamlet in his hamster ball so that he could run around their room, "tell me about your family." She sat back down on her bed, and watched Hamlet run around. back home, her room is so big, one lap around made him really tired. Here, he could do six or seven before he even got a little sleepy. She just got him this summer. "and then, if you want, I'll tell you all about mine." She gave her a weak smile, and ran a hand though her hair.
