PERSONALITY
Tanner is generally a nice enough guy. He's not the type to screw over people or anything, but he has a certain social status which he's been used to as something that should have a certain importance, and he's been taught to act accordingly. He's not really snob or stuck up, nor does he exactly think himself better than other people, he's just been used to his parents showing him the example of acting as if. He doesn't turn his nose up on people who don't have as much money, or whose family isn't as prestidigious as his own, but he's never been allowed to mingle with them so they're almost like a different kind of people to him, unattainable, not that he wants to attain them - or at least, he's not supposed to. Truth is, Tanner doesn't really feel that way about himself, nor does he feel he should stay away from people of a different status. He figures that if all the publicly important people had turned their back on other that weren't quite as known or wealthy, a lot of things wouldn't be as they are today, would be worse.
But he is an extremely respectful person, and he respects his parents immensely, too much to think of going against what they've taught him even if he doesn't agree to it, which means he can sometimes somewhat be a bit hot and cold toward certain people at moments when he forgets he maybe shouldn't be befriending them too much. That has caused him to lose many promising friendships, which he feels keenly about because he's much of a people person and he likes getting along with everybody, and sadly enough has trouble getting along with anybody because of his constant dilemna. He sometimes wishes he could just be some normal guy and leave the people he hangs out with - which, for the most part, he really hates aside from a few people here and there who aren't quite as bad, but finds himself forced to sit with because they're the only people who are said to matter in the school, or at least are deemed to by some people - and the older he gets, the more he leans toward it, but he's yet to find that one thing that'll push him over.
He's not shy, but he's more of the quiet type. He's very confident, and sometimes he shows it a bit too much out of habit, but he doesn't like flaunting anything that he has, whether it be money or anything else. When it comes to girls, he's a bit old fashioned, something else he's learnt from his father. He's not to the point of courting, that's a bit too old fashioned, but he still wants to get to know a girl well before he considers actually dating her, and he doesn't want to get involved with someone just because of how they look and how they seem to be nice or bright - he wants to know they are indeed that, wants to know what they think like, opinions on certain subjects and so on. He just doesn't want to jump into something without being aware of what it is he's gonna be getting at the end of the day. To him, dating is almost like a processus, and maybe that's why he's never really found someone really meaningful.
APPEARANCE
Tanner doesn't stand very tall at 5'9", but that definitely doesn't affect his general appearance. He's a very good looking guy, getting most of his physical features from his father. He usually keeps his brown hair to a medium length, never really enough to be called long but not short either. He's not much for styling it either - he washes it, brushes through and then leaves it to dry, and since it's naturally straight, it usually works well enough. His blue eyes ought to be covered with glasses, but he tends to wear contacts instead, not so much because he thinks glasses make him look dorky or bad, but because they tend to give him headaches, and when he wants to do sports or something of the sort, it's just more unconvenient to be wearing glasses.
He's not extremely into sports, but he enjoys some of them from time to time. He's more the type to work out however, and so his body, though not buff or bulky, has a good muscular mass and nice muscle definition. His dressing style is rather simple, but very neat and obviously expensive, though not because he feels the need to be dressed in expensive clothes, but because his parents have people buy clothes for him and shopping is definitely not something he likes enough to go and buy stuff for himself. When he does, however, he doesn't really care where he goes, as long as what he wears is comfortable and neat enough.
HISTORY
Descending from a long line of so called 'cotton barons', hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Tanner James Hamilton was born on the usually warm morning of January 12th 1993. His ancestors had been of those who reigned over imposing plantations of cotton, their money made and passed from generation through generation. James Hamilton, his father, was now at the head of a related company, his own father having been before him. Part of the elite of the city, even the state, he'd met his wife when he was twenty at a gala dinner celebrating the company's hundred years. She was the daughter of one of his father's old associates, who had also become his best friend with the years, and it was made pretty obvious that the two of them would be strongly advised to make a match of it, though they were not forced into a marriage either, neither of their parents believing in that as they'd both made a happy, long living marriage.
Luckily, James and Lillian took a strong fancy to one another from the start - it surely helped that they were both rather good looking kids, James with his sandy brown locks and bright blue eyes, his manly body shape and his way with words, and Lillian with her silky blonde hair and warm chocolatey eyes, womanly curves and sweet smile. It was only a few months before they started dating, in a way that was a bit old fashioned for their time, but that was how James had been brought up. A year later, he proposed, and she accepted him, though she was only nineteen yet, and her parents wanted her to wait until twenty one to marry, which they willingly agreed to, figuring two years of engagement would be a reasonable length of time to plan the wedding, which was to be a very elaborate affair. Merely three months after they were finally married, Lillian announced her pregnancy, which again caused hundreds of extravagant preparations for a nursery and a nurse that was to be hired, clothes, toys and so on. On April 9th of 1990, she gave birth to pale, wide eyed Katharine Margaret, only to lose her twelve hours later.
It was a while before the family recovered from the wee girl's death, and for over a year James and Lillian barely dared approaching one another. A year after their daughter's birth and death, Lillian attempted suicide - she, luckily, did not succeed, though it was all kept secret for such an event was not to be spoken of, she was taken to therapy, and soon James joined her, not so much because he had been quite as affected as her, but because he knew this was something they should work on as a couple, not something she should deal with alone. It took almost a year before Lillian was back to her old self, and though she'd always love and miss her daughter, she knew there was more to live. A few months later, she got pregnant again. Being excited as the first time was hard with the constant fright of their first baby's fate, but Tanner's birth quickly proved those worries useless. He was a strong, large, active little fellow, and he grew into his strenght even more with the following weeks of his birth. Two years later, in May, little Ella Marie joined and completed the family. Both kids were put through similar kind of classes in their youth - piano and violin, dance and such - but as they grew older they were allowed to try out things they seemed to prefer. Ella kept up with what she'd started, but Tanner, even at a young age, had developped a different kind of liking.
It took a little while for the parents to realize that the young boy's apparent happiness and fascination when he was filmed for home movies was not from being in front of the camera, but for the camera itself, as they realized when they found him playing with a very fancy and expensive camera, surprisingly enough never breaking it. They offered him one just as fancy and expensive soon after, and he started filming everything and anything he came across - a bunny hopping across the yard, butterflies flying around the gardens, his sister dancing or playing the piano, social gathering he was brought to. Soon those little amateur, candid videos turned into more elaborate things when he started involving some of the staff that took care of the house, giving them lines and a plot, creating mini movies for his parents. It was obvious that the little boy has a natural talent for the whole of it, too, and they started putting him through classes, buying him a high tech computer with the latest movie making program and everything else he would need. He was yet to turn ten at the time.
His passion and talent kept developping and growing, and it wasn't long before his parents started looking for a private school that might have a special program to teach him even more about film. The results that came from their research proved unsatisfactory, however, but it wasn't long after that that they were referred to the Academy. They were hesitant at first - sending their son to a public high school definitely didn't seem like the thing to do. However, after meeting with the principal and film teacher of the school, and learning that many children of wealthy and high ranked families also attended there, they decided to give it a shot and talked it over with Tanner, who was up for it the moment he heard about it. The application was sent during his 8th grade year, and a letter stating he was accepted was found in the mail less than a month later. His parents sent him over, along with a man who'd been working for them for ten years now and whom they trusted so he could keep an eye on him and drive him around and such when need be.
