PERSONALITY
Once Mikayla gets something in her head, there's no getting it out. If she wants something then she'll go to all extremes to get it, even if at the end of the day what she does is no good for herself. There are very few people who manage to have control over her, but when she comes across someone who's worth adoring, she'll give herself completely and entirely into their hands and they will be able to do with her as they please. In other words, someone she doesn't deem popular would have no effect on her with what they say or whatever good advice they give her, whereas anyone who would be part of the big clique of the school could get her to do something she hates if they wanted to. She aspires to be a part of the group so bad that it doesn't matter to her if at the end of the day she's being used - it still gives her a feeling that she belongs, and she would rather have it hard while belonging within a group of the most popular students rather than go along with anybody else. Being popular is something she's always wanted, and to her fifteen year old self, it seems worth all the rest.
In spite of the fact that she lets her aspirations get in the way of everything else, she's a very bright girl, though mainly in a bookish way, but she's still not one to be easily outsmarted. She loves debates, because proving she's right is something she's very fond of, but she accepts defeat very sourly. She has very good memory skills, and she doesn't forget easily when someone crosses her - her mind is rather vindictive, and she's very stubborn as to it. If she's not done sulking and plotting revenge against someone who's upset her, she won't give her forgiveness no matter how many times it's asked for, and most of the time she won't be able to feel entirely satisfied until she gets back at the person. She's a bit of a girlie girl at times in her ways of acting, but she's not really the princessy type - she won't squeal and cry if she breaks a nail, nor is her wardrobe only constituted of pink clothing. She is, however, rather boy crazy, and when it comes to guys she feels a lot of pressure, wanting to compare to older girls to get and hold their attention.
Through it all, she is however an extremely insecure girl. She acts in the way she does, following the big crowd and doing as she's told, because she doesn't know who she is if she isn't that. For that, she is extremely jealous of her sister, who, in spite of the fact that she sometimes lacks a bit of self confidence like most teenagers, seems to at least have found herself whereas she still can't figure that out, and it scares her at time. She goes along with the personality she's given herself because she's scared that without it, she simply won't be anybody, and all she does is guided by her desire to at least be someone, by her conviction that through observing those people she admires and aspire to be like, she'll become something close to what they are and will finally be able to figure herself out.
APPEARANCE
Standing quite small at merely five feet two inches, though still taller than her sister by half an inch which is ridiculously satisfying to her, Mikayla's height had never stopped her from seeing big. She takes a lot after her mother when it comes to her look, whereas Isabelle takes after their father on most aspects, which explains why they don't necessarily share a lot of their features. Her long, chocolate dark brown hair falls down her shoulder in neat, shiny waves with bangs that have to be constantly away from her dark brown eyes. Her skin has a permanent tan to it, though with a slight pink tint to it still, and is practically flawless in spite of her age due to how much care she puts into it. There isn't one part of her body she doesn't care well for, and she has a very precise routine she goes through every night before bed and evening morning when she gets up, though her hair is the part of her she actually spends the most time on, shampooing and conditioning thoroughly before blowdrying it and styling it in a perfect manner.
Her body has a lot of very well placed curves for her age, and she dresses to make sure to put them to their advantage, too. Her wardrobe mostly consists of tight, low rise jeans, short skirts and low cut shirts, though she still manages to dress in a sexy classy sort of way, able to say away from trashy and slutty even if she does her best to look good and attractive. Most of what she wears is the latest fashion, and when she's forced to keep on wearing something that's still more of last season, she usually manages to pair it up with something that gives it a new life and makes it look good even if it's out of date. She never wear sneakers, with the exception of during gym classes because she doesn't have a choice, but she has tons of shoes - flats or high heels, depending on the occasion, but she usually prefers giving herself a few additional inches seeing as she's not very tall. As for makeup, she never leaves her room without it. She tends to wear the whole of it, but never colors that pop out too much. Her goal is to make her best feature stand out, and she knows too much is never good.
HISTORY
Mikayla Gabrielle Young was the second and last child born to parents Grace and Joshua Young on the twelfth of November 1994, instantly becoming the center of attention as opposed to her older, quieter sister Isabelle. She was a loud baby, but a happy one - she cried a lot, but laughed just as much. The only times during which she was really quiet was during her sleep, and even then it took her quite a few months to sleep through the night in a proper fashion. Nobody seemed to mind the noise she made though, and it lead her to being an even louder child as she grew older. She would run around the house and skip around the ranch in her light pink overalls which she insisted on wearing practically all the time, dragging her favorite doll around and not caring about how dirty it, or she, got, as she greeted every horse and every kitten she met in a cheerful, shouted childish manner, all the while babbling with every inanimate object that came her way, and once she was done with one sided conversations with chairs and doors, she went to have just as one sided conversations with her sister.
Mikayla and Isabelle were very close as children. Their interests were very different, but at the end of the day, it was from Isabelle that Miki wanted to hear a bedtime story, no matter how broken it was considering her reading skills weren't necessarily great either due to their young age, and it was to Izzie too that Mikayla went, crying, when she got a scrape or a bruise. Isabelle would mostly allow her little sister all that she wanted, too, never saying no when Miki came over to borrow a toy from her, always letting her have the last cookie in the jar. They hardly ever fought in spite of their entirely different personalities, Isabelle's quietness and meekness allowing Mikayla's domineering and spirited character to outshine her in most situation, which contented the older girl more than enough considering how she loved being in the background, whereas Miki always had to have the spotlight on her at all time, being an outspoken, extroverted little girl.
It remained that way until Mikayla reached age nine. Her love of the country and horses faded as it was replaced by dreams of the big city and makeup, and her closeness with her sister disappeared almost instantly. She started becoming obsessed with fashion and gossip and reality shows on the television, getting her hand on every Hollywood magazine she could read. It was then, too, that her passion for the theater developped, aspiring to become one of those beautiful actresses she saw on the tv and in magazines, craving to spend her days on a LA beach or shopping around New York streets. She stopped asking for dolls and horse plushies for Christmas and her birthday, instead asking for money to do her own clothes shopping - deciding that her mother's taste in clothes was awful, just as much as her sister's old outfits that she was sometimes forced to wear. She stopped hanging out with her old friends, steered clear of her unpopular and socially awkward sister at school, instead tagging along with the very few girls that had a bit more money, though she knew she'd never really have the friends she wanted until she moved out of this unknown, lame town she'd once loved so much, where you recognized everybody you crossed on the street and had to take a bus an hour early to get to the nearest school.
Once she turned ten, she went up to her parents and asked if she could have an agent to become an actress, the whole process that simple in her mind. The temper tauntrum she threw when they told her it didn't work quite so easily was so powerful that they quickly diverted to another option - acting classes, which would maybe someday get her recognized. She grudgingly accepted the compromise, deciding that she would get herself an agent with or without her parents' help once she turned eighteen and moved to Los Angeles, but that in the meantime she would go along with the classes. Those classes, though quite basic, sparked her interest even more, and it was found that her dream of acting wasn't unrealistic at all - she was good, very good. Her coach soon decided that there was more that could be done with that kind of a talent, giving her exercices and projects that she didn't usually share with her students, seeing most of them were generally there to have fun, not to fulfill a real dream of a big career.
It was when Isabelle found about Gordon Parks' Academy that Mikayla realized there had to be placed around the country where she could learn more, develop her talent in a more professional manner. Though at first she refused to even consider a school where her sister might have been accepted, figuring she wasn't gonna go and ruin whatever chance she could get to hang out with a more popular and respected crowd. She researched other places around the United States where she could possibly get the same kind of amazing education and practice her talent and passion at the same time, but the ones she found were either too expensive and not elligible for scholarships, or they just didn't seem very good at all. Yet she still refused to go for Gordon Parks', and it was that reluctance that caused her to apply late and get a refusal, all the possible spots having been filled before her application had even been received. She tried not to let herself be affected by it too much, though she got even snippier toward her sister, the jealousy added to every other issue not improving their already shaky relationship.
However, toward the beginning of November, she received a letter informing her that a student had dropped out and that she would be allowed to join mid year if she could pass a few exams to confirm that she would be able to fit in with the classes and not fall behind because she'd missed too much of what had been learnt. After several tests and a new audition, came waiting, and a month later, another letter came in the mail, announcing that she'd been accepted, as her sister before her, on a partial scholarship.
