PERSONALITY
Tasha has a very obnoxious personality. When she's in a room, it's impossible not to know she's there. She talks loudly, she laughs loudly, and when she yells it's even worse. She deems herself to be outspoken, but really she's just an attention grabber. She needs to be the one people think and talk about, and she doesn't care whether they do it in a positive or negative manner as long as they do it. Strangely enough, she still always does manage to find herself a nice little circle of friends wherever she goes, and most of the time she's definitely the leader of the group. In spite of her tendency to drama, she does have a good head on her shoulders, and she's very good when it comes to leadership. She's not really one to get really attached to people though - she's had to make new friends and leave them behind too often for her to really let herself get close to anyone, and she doesn't really mind it, doesn't need people to confide into or anything of the sort - she doesn't have anything to confide really, because she's a blabbermouth and she tells everything and anything that has to do with herself to anyone who's around to hear it.
Seriousness isn't something that comes easy to her, even when she knows she ought to be, like in class - the only place where she musters enough self control to keep her mouth shut and not squirm around is in church, because she knows her mom would definitely not be happy otherwise, and her mom's anger is not a pretty sight. She takes it from her, too - when she gets angry at someone, it's better to be miles away from where she is, because she doesn't care if other people will be there to hear and get in the middle of the fight, she just lets it all go, and her voice carries, a lot. She's gotten in trouble in class loads of time because she just can't stop talking, and whispering doesn't seem to be something she's able to do. Focusing on a particular task is also extremely hard for her - she's very scatterbrained, with an extremely short attention span, which is why she can ramble on and on for hours at a time, because she'll start talking about a specific subject, but then she'll make the link to another and start going on about that one without even concluding what she was talking about before, and so on.
However, for all she seems so full of herself and a bit braggy at time, there's nothing mean about her when it comes to sharing and giving. In a way, it's not necessarily in the best of ways - she often buys a lot of stuff for her new friends and it can make it look as though she's trying to buy their friendship, which has made a lot of people take advantage of it when they noticed her doing so, but she doesn't really care. She gives a lot of her stuff too, when a friend comes along and admires a certain article of clothing, headband, pair of shoes, and so on, she doesn't often think twice before giving it away since she knows she'll be replacing it soon enough, unless it's something she's had for a long time because she really loves it. She's not one to focus on material possessions - to her, it can all be replaced, and at some point it'll need to be, so there's no point in getting attached, and what she doesn't give to friends she usually ends up giving to charities.
When it comes to guys, however, that's the one aspect where she doesn't give all of herself right now. She doesn't want to put out for someone she doesn't care about, and most of the time she doesn't give herself a reason to care about guys - she has a certain prejudice about guys her age, and she decided long ago that they were just way too immature for her to even consider dating them. She's been pretty impatient about joining high school for that in a way, figuring that maybe senior guys might be a bit more like the kind of guys she wants to date, though she's so picky in her tastes that it's likely she'd never find someone who even came close to her ideal if she looked for a hundred years. In spite of that, she's very boy crazy - she'll go on and on about whoever she thinks is hot or cute, most of the time celebrities. She just doesn't let herself close enough to think of getting more, because guys' personalities usually end up being a huge turn off for her, so she prefers oogling at them from afar and going on and on about their good looks without doing anything more.
APPEARANCE
Tasha is a very good looking young girl, with sparkly black eyes that, in spite of their lack of proper color, do not lack life in the slightest. Her flawless skin looks as soft as her long, straight black hair, and her full lips often open to reveal a bright, perfect white smile. She stands a little below average height at 5'3", though her slim body gives her a more womanly look from its nice curves in that are all in the right place. She keeps her weight in check, mostly with exercise but she pretty much loathes sports and work out, so every morning she starts the day with a short routine of yoga, and three days a week, she goes out to her pilates classes, which to her is the perfect way to keep in good shape and good health without having to sweat like crazy and be out of breath.
Her clothing style goes accordingly to whatever's in style that season. She's very much a trend follower, and so she'd never be found shopping at a second hand store or even a store where the clothes are outdated. She by far prefers the places where she'll be sure to find whatever's the most sought ought at that moment, and so her wardrobe constantly gets cleaned out and filled in with new clothes, except for a few choice pieces that she's grown particularly fond of. To her, comfort is only the second most important things when it comes to clothing - she'd much rather be stylish, but in spite of her conformity when it comes to where she shops and what she buys, she always manages to make the outfit stand out by a few personal touches she adds here and there.
HISTORY
Chad Rollins was eighteen when he enlisted in the Air Force of the United States Army. He'd never really had any idea of what he wanted to do with his life, but he knew he wanted to do something that would assure him a comfortable future, and he'd always liked the idea of learning how to fly a plane, having been fascinated with them as a boy, which made it easy on him as to deciding which branch of the military he wanted to go for. His own parents had died during his early teenagehood, and he'd been living with his grandparents since then - his grandfather had been in the military himself, and so they both encouraged his choice. He went off to do his training and started serving his country as soon as he could. He was twenty two and stationed in Hawaii when he met Kalani Malia Kamali'i. They instantly found themselves attracted to the other one, in a completely superficial sense at first - Chad was very drawn to Kalani's typically hawaiian looks, and Kalani had always had a weakness for men in uniforms, and she definitely did like the glamour of it. But as they got to know each other better, they soon found that their personalities were as attractive as their looks, and it wasn't long before they had both fallen for the other.
It wasn't even a year since they had met when Chad proposed, and Kalani wanted to accept, but she had a few things to think over first. She knew what Chad's carreer meant, and she wasn't sure whether she really was ready to leave the beautiful island she'd grown up on, and always be forced to leave places just as soon as she got settled. A few days of thinking, however, brought her to the conclusion that it would be much more painful to watch him leave than to leave with him, and they were soon married. It was a dream wedding on the beach at sunset, like so many people dream of, and less than two months later, Chad was moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to Cocoa Beach, Florida. The close proximity of the ocean made the transition easier for Kalani, but after three more years, they were moved again to Wichita Falls, Texas. At that point, Kalani was pregnant, and she was a bit less pleased with the outcome of their latest move. She dealed with it though, not having much of a choice but to do so, and they'd just gotten settled in their new home when she went into labor, two weeks early.
Natasha Mei Rollins, though she was called Tasha by everyone practically from the moment of her birth, was born late in night of December 4th 1995. The little girl took practically all her features from her daddy, except for her eyes that were her mother's without a single doubt. Practically from the moment of her birth, the little girl was spoiled by both of her parents - she was her daddy's little princess, and her mother wanted to make up for the number of times she'd have to be taken from places she'd learn to love and separated from friends she'd make, wanted to make up for the number of times she'd have to change schools and get used once more to a whole new system and to new teachers. She wasn't too sure just how much she liked the idea of her daughter living through that, musing that military life was not very fit for children, but there wasn't much to be done now. When Tasha was two, the little family moved once more, this time heading to Clovis, New Mexico, and three years later, it was Cheyenne, Wyoming that became their new home. By then, Kalani had grown excessively tired of the moving, and it had taken its toll on hers and Chad's relationship. When, two years later, the news came that they might be transferred to Alaska, she decided she just couldn't take it anymore and filed for divorce.
It was, however, Chad that obtained the custody of Tasha, since he had a stable job and a house wherever he went, whereas Kalani has neither. She was heartbroken at the thought of leaving her child behind, but at least she knew Tasha would be well cared for, and so she made the decision to move back to Honolulu, arranging it with Chad that their daughter would come and spend Christmas and half of her summer with her. There was no bitterness or harsh fighting in the divorce, and so Tasha didn't really take much notice of it. She missed her mom, but she was happy with her dad, who seemed to spoil her even more now that her mother was gone, not to mention the fact that Kalani kept sending little presents and money to her daughter. Not long after the divorce, Chad was once more moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and after another two years, a few weeks after Tasha turned nine, it was to Fairfield, California that he was sent. He was starting to get a bit tired with the moving himself though, and he could see that Tasha did not appreciate having to move every two or three years either, not to mention the fact that it'd cost him his wife.
To make up for it, he decided that Tasha should be able to find an activity that she'd be able to pursue wherever they went, without being too confused with the change of teacher. Art and dance didn't seem to be the thing, and the young girl was not into sports in the slightest. She tried scrapbooking, but she was still a little young to really enjoy it. However, it was found that she was rather crafty still and she had a good imagination and taste when it came to mixing colors and patterns. That was when the idea came that maybe she would enjoy sewing. After all, it was a good life skill to have, kept you from having to pay when your clothes needed alteration and he was quite sure that the little girl would enjoy making those kind of things. By the time she was eleven, her talent had developped to a point that her teacher decided it was time to show her how to make her own patterns and clothes rather than following those that were ready made. Tasha was ecstasic at that - she was growing tired of making cushions, boxers, plain skirts and Halloween costumes. She was a fast learner, and very creative. Soon enough, her skills improved to the point where she was actually able to wear the clothes she made and have people asked her where she'd bought them. And for the first time in her life, she was practically heartbroken when the news came that they yet again had to move, meaning she'd have to leave her teacher behind, which her dad had not realized might be a problem.
Tasha was only twelve at the time, but her teacher had seen the potential, and before she left, she made sure to hand her a small booklet about a certain school in Missouri where she might learn even more about her newly developped passion. She kept it to herself for a while as they settled into Mountain Home, Idaho, and she kept on sewing on the small sewing machine her mother had bought her, also getting a small surprise upon moving there, finding that they were actually moving in a real house, not a house on base, in which she had her own sewing room, and not just closet size, a full blown, large sized room. A year passed before anything else happened to the little family, one that none of them would have ever expected - Chad had bought a lottery ticket with a group of friends from work, which he didn't really think about until he received a frantic call from one of the guys to announce that they had won. For a while, he couldn't believe it, but the news were confirmed by a few more guys who'd also gotten the ticket with them, and he came to the realisation that he had won a very ridiculously large amount of money. Chad had always been a hard worker, and serious about finance however, and so he refused to go crazy, also not letting Tasha know at first.
He did retire from the military, but he soon found another job at a military college where he would teach the knowledge he'd accumulated in the past few twenty years, and he started out by telling Tasha that they would never have to move again, unless they wanted to, which made her happy enough in itself. When he next announced he had won the lottery, however, she was speechless for a few minutes and then ran out of the room, coming back to her puzzled a minute later and handing him a now slightly worn booklet that gave all the information about Gordon Parks' Academy for the Arts, looking up at him with her sparkly, expectant eyes, and it wasn't very long before the decision was made that, once she was old enough, Tasha would be sent to the Academy, if she was accepted, under condition that she worked hard in school to get the good enough grades for it. He was very proud of his daughter too, knowing that she could have asked for some money for much more extravagant and pointless things, and instead she'd decided to pursue her passion and gain a better education. Plans were made and he and his ex wife came to the agreement that Tasha would now spend one Christmas out of two with her mother and the other with her father, and still spread the summer in halves, since he would no longer get to see her during the rest of the year either. The year before her freshman year, the application was sent, and a letter came a month later, announcing that she had been accepted.
