PERSONALITY
Almost from the moment she was born, Jessica was always considered to be like a small ball of energy. From the moment she realized that she had the capacity of moving around, whether it just be rolling from side to side or crawling, there was no way of stopping her from getting to where she wanted to go, which earned her quite a few bumps and bruises as she grew a bit older, realizing pretty young that stairs gates were there for a reason, and that that reason was not so that they could be climbed over. Luckily, she never really got to the point of injuring herself very seriously, except for a couple of occasions that resulted in deep bruised muscles, broken bones and more than a few scars because of her slight tendency to being a bit of a daredevil. She just can't help herself though - standing still is probably one of the things that is hardest for her to do, and most of the time, unless she's in class or at church, she doesn't even attempt it.
She's a bright, friendly kind of girl who loves surrounding herself with people and meeting new friends, and she will approach anybody and everybody who will let her. Of course, she can get a hint and she easily notices when someone doesn't like her, but it never really affects her sunny disposition, figuring that life is too short to waste it on people who don't want to be around her. She likes to have people like her, but she's not the kind of person who needs to have everybody love her either - nor does she love everybody she comes across herself for that matter. She's a very stubborn kind of girl, which had led her to get into trouble several times, and as a child her mother wondered if she was actually a magnet for accidents as she often came home with one part or another of her bleeding or hurting. It never stopped her from wanting to do more though, figuring that falling out of a tree once didn't mean she shouldn't try and climb it again.
Her love for writing comes as a surprise to a lot of people, considering the fact that it's a skill that generally calls for quiet and focus, but she's able to balance her love of moving with her love of writing. Usually, inspiration strikes her while she's running around doing some thing or another, and then she'll completely stop what she's doing and go inside her own little world to write until she's done, and then she's up and going again. Her studies are not as important to her as they probably should be, but she does always take the time to make sure she knows what she ought to and get good grades, and since she had a natural talent for easily retaining information, she never had any problem doing well on tests and such even though she doesn't often sit herself down to study. She's very rash and doesn't often think things through before she goes ahead and does something, but she would much rather learn from her own mistakes than not experience every single thing that can be done.
She is still rather innocent though when it comes to relationships and such, but that definitely doesn't mean she isn't open to trying new things on that level too - she's had a couple of boyfriends in the past, nothing very serious considering her age, and one or two girl crushes that lead her to realize that she's not quite what you could call straight. As far as experience goes, she's never gone past kissing much, but she pretty much knows everything there is to know about sex and isn't opposed to the idea of trying out a few more things.
APPEARANCE
Standing at only five feet and two inches, Jessica has definitely never let her short height stop her from doing anything and everything she wants. Her need to be active, however, does not translate in any way to tomboyishness, and her appearance is one of an average fifteen year old girl who likes to dress well and look nice. Her blonde hair, which she generally keeps straight, almost always ends up being pulled up in braids or a ponytail, and her clear blue eyes are framed by long, thick eyelashes that makes them pop out even more. She has a fair complexion that has seen many sunburns and bruises, with a hint of pink on her cheeks and a few scars here and there from experiments gone wrong.
Considering her love for physical activity, her body is slim and well toned, and she generally has good enough taste when it comes to dressing herself up to look her best. She's not much of a fan of skirts and dresses, but she still likes pretty things, generally going for a pair of jeans and pairing it up with a nice shirt, unless she's out doing any kind of sport or exercice - then it's sweats and a t-shirt or tank top all the way. She never wears heels, preferring sneakers by far though she sometimes indulges in nice flat shoes, and makeup is something that is practically foreign to her, aside from nail polish which she always has on in random, bright colors. She does love accessorizing, especially with bracelets and rings, and she owns more than a few hats and jackets to complete her wardrobe.
HISTORY
Molly Shaw was eighteen when she moved from Queenstown, New Zealand, to go study zoology at the University of Western Australia, near the city of Perth. She was going through her second year when she met Henry Wilson, a pharmacology major, and it wasn't long until sparks started flying between the two of them, in spite of their very different personalities - Molly was full of fire, always up to something, whereas Henry was more of the quiet, day dreamer type, but somehow they balanced each other perfectly, and at the end of their last year of studies, he proposed to her. They both wanted to start their career before having children though, and so Henry went on to work as a pharmacist in a local store while Molly got a job at the Perth Zoo, which had been the main goal behind her decision to move there in the first place. They went on like that for a year, saving money and sharing a small but nice apartment together, until one day, Molly announced that she was pregnant.
Not wanting to raise a child in such a small space as they had, they started house hunting until they found a nice place that would be just perfect for them, moving in during Molly's fifth month of pregnancy and making sure to get everything ready for their baby's arrival. Jessica Danielle Wilson was born along with the sunrise on the morning of July 28th 1996, instantly showing off her powerful set of lungs, and she was brought home the next day - then began the real challenge. She was no an unhappy baby by any means, but that obviously did not mean she was quiet either, and though she didn't cry often, it didn't stop her from making other kind of noises to get other people's attention. Luckily enough, she generally slept well enough through the night, but it soon became obvious that she was an early riser, getting into the habit of waking her parents up around five thirty in the morning. She was quick to learn everything that had to do with moving, from rolling around to crawling before she moved on to standing up by herself and finally walking, going everywhere she could, whether there was a gate to keep her from doing so or not.
She was about two when her mother got into the habit of taking her over to the zoo with her on days when she knew she would be working with tame animals, having developped a few tricks to make sure she could keep an eye on her by then and not too sure if any babysitter would be prepared for that kind of a job. Being exposed to the presence of animals at such a young age allowed Jessica to develop the same kind of passion her mother had for them, and it was obvious that she was rather fearless when it came even to the animals people tend to be more careful around. Her mother was happy to encourage that passion, still allowing her to come along and help as she grew older, figuring that being around animals would help teach her a few things, like how to handle things in a gentle manner, or how to be more careful when it came to potentially dangerous situations - not that she ever allowed her even near bigger, wilder animals, knowing her daughter well enough to know she wouldn't stop herself from trying to get a closer look at a lion or a crocodile.
She was eight when her mother found the first sign of a different kind of talent while cleaning up her bedroom, finding a few sheets of paper thrown across her floor which held a short story that took place in a zoo between a couple of penguins, a sea lion and a parrot. It didn't take her long to realize that the kind of story she had read was unusually good for having been written by such a young child, and she decided to do her best to help Jessica develop her skill through the suggestion that, every time she'd come to the zoo, she ought to write something about it. Jessica agreed to it happily enough, and over time, small animal compositions turned into stories about anything that went through her mind at the time. For the first time in years, there was quiet in the Wilson household from time to time, whenever she sat herself down to think up a story or write it down, and her parents knew this was something they should encourage her to keep doing if she really loved it, which she seemed to, and when she began seventh grade, they started looking for schools where she might keep on improving and developping her talent.
At first, they kept their research to a smaller scale, looking for a school in their own country until they realized that there wouldn't be anything to be found there and broadened their search. That's when they found out about Gordon Parks' Academy for the Arts in Kansas City, Missouri, and while Molly felt like they had just found the perfect school for their daughter, Henry was a lot more dubious about the idea of sending his fifteen year old daughter so far away. After a lot of talking, they decided to leave the decision up to her, figuring that if she wanted to stay behind then she would simply have to attend a regular high school and keep writing in her spare time. As it turned out, the idea of going somewhere else excited her beyond belief, and she pleaded them to apply as soon as possible, which they did. For a long time, no response came, though that did nothing to kill Jessica's enthousiasm every day as she skipped over to the mailbox, and one day, her patience and optimism was rewarded as she ran back up the lane with a thick enveloppe addressed to her, practically bouncing as her mother opened it up to reveal that she had been accepted as a creative writing student.
