PERSONALITY
Ryan is an interesting combination of nerdy and sociable. He enjoys hanging out with people and being in the spotlight, but he also enjoys just being able to spend time on the computer or reading comic books. He's also got an excellent memory for small facts that other people might not always remember or care about, which he sometimes feels the need to share with others. Mostly he's dropped that habit though, from years of people telling him that they really just don't care. Still, the skill comes in handy with his education. Not that he needs much help with that because he was always encouraged to be an intelligent individual and do well in school. But of course, despite all that, his real passion is acting and it is his first and foremost pleasure. He puts it before anything and everything else and has no problem with devoting large amounts of his free time either practicing or reading new plays that he can find. Sometimes he can be a bit arrogant in his knowledge about plays and characters within them, but he tries not to think too much of his actual skill because he realizes that there is always more to learn.
He has a hard time keeping things from people because he's not that great of a liar, which often baffles people because he's such a great actor. Still, there is just something about his mannerisms that allows people to see through the lies that he tells quite easily. Despite that he tries to be there for his friends and be supportive of them when they need it. And he isn't afraid to ask for help when he needs it, since he's usually not too stubborn to notice when he might be wrong. Common sense is much stronger for him than the need to be right all the time and he has trouble accepting people that are the opposite. That's why he isn't afraid to call out his friends when he believes they're being unnecessarily stubborn. For him being honest is usually more important than keeping the peace between people and would rather that people adapted the policy around him as well, though he's never intentionally rude or hurtful toward others and tries to be as kind as possible when breaking difficult news to others.
His temper is usually more on the mild side, but he does have some people with whom his fuse is just a lot shorter. Talking is more his style as opposed to action though, when it comes to be upset and he's never gotten involved in a physical altercation with another individual. Mostly, he can yell and swear at a person and everything will be okay after that. Especially since he's not any good at holding a grudge with someone either, just because he doesn't see the point in wasting so much time and energy on someone that he doesn't even like in any shape or form. Mostly ignorant people frustrate him the most, since he can't understand how some people just allow themselves to be so cut off from the rest of the world that they would act that way.
When it comes to relationships, Ryan is a believer in them. Judging people about their dating choices isn't something that he's into, even if he wouldn't necessarily make those choices himself. He doesn't do flings or one night stands, because he doesn't believe in the idea of sex without feelings attached to it. Not necessarily love, but just a sort of emotional bond between the people. Which is probably why he's never had any before, since he's never had a serious girlfriend in the past. He's never been looking for a relationship before either, though at this point he wouldn't say no to having one either. When the right girl comes around, he's pretty sure that he'll know it. How, he's not sure, but he just believes that it'll be obvious in some unknown way.
APPEARANCE
Standing at five feet and eleven inches, Ryan is about average height for a guy and has a pretty average weight as well as he doesn't really exercise or anything of the sorts past the required gym classes. He keeps his dirty blonde hair on the shaggier side and usually just brushes it to the side, out of his light blue eyes. He's got a set of straight, white teeth thanks to braces as a child and a set of dimples whenever a smile does grace his features. He's a little too young to grow proper facial hair and whatever he does grow he always shaves away because he just prefers it to the slight scruff.
His style isn't really developed that much past that of the average teenage guy. Most of his wardrobe is tee shirts and jeans, though he does have some dressier tops and pants, but those aren't something that he'll wear on a daily basis. He's got a pair of sneakers that he'll wear most of the time. Most of his clothes are more practical than stylish and that's the way that he likes it.
HISTORY
Ryan Anthony Lawrence was born to parents Jennifer and Steve Lawrence on September 6, 1995 in the town of Edgerton, Minnesota. The first and only child that the couple would have together, they showered him with love and affection. Jennifer was exceptionally happy to have a baby and tried to give him the best start to life as possible. As an optometrist, Steve had the money to provide the family with all that they might need, but Jennifer went back to her job at the bank after her maternity leave was up. They raised the small boy and found early on that he was both intelligent and possessed a great deal of charisma. He charmed people easily and was truly the pride of both parents and they gave him anything that he could want. However, it wasn't enough to keep their marriage alive and when Ryan was six, the couple decided that they were going to split up. There were no hard feelings, nor no hard custody battles of their son or possessions. Quite civilly they parted ways, selling the house that they had lived in together and each buying new houses that were across town from each other. Although many people said that it wasn't possible, the two of them really managed to stay friends through the divorce process.
It was decided that Ryan would have residence in both houses and switched where he was staying on a bi-weekly basis. Within two years of the divorce being finalized, both of his parents had found new people. At the age of 8, he was a ring barrier in his mother's second wedding to her new husband, Bruce, a mechanic. Bruce and Ryan developed a great relationship and embraced their new dynamic as step-father and step-son. Meanwhile, he was also experiencing a similar situation with his father's girlfriend LeeAnne, though the two weren't about to get married. As a high school drama teacher, it was actually LeeAnne who recognized the potential that Ryan could have as an actor after watching him play with some of his friends as they acted out scenes from their favorite movies. Never pushing him, she approached him with the idea of starting acting classes. Ryan was hesitant at first, but once he started going, he found that he loved it and did have a real talent for it. Acting was something that he ate up, always excited for new plays and roles.
His parents, of course, supported this new passion in any way that they could and were always making time to watch him in the community plays that he took part in. All of the parents in his life recognized the talent that he had and agreed that if he decided that he wanted to pursue it further, they would take him seriously, although none were in on the idea of him becoming a child actor in Hollywood or anything of the likes, but more thinking of when he got older. For the most part though, Ryan was content with the idea of just acting locally whenever he got the chance and of reading as many plays as he could, preferring them to movies or television. The idea of being a famous actor on big productions elsewhere sticking into his head, although he knew that he wouldn't be able to even attempt anything like that for a while.
When he was 13 a few important events happened in his life. His father finally married LeeAnne after a long engagement and he was happy to be a part of that wedding as well, this time as the best man. His mother, on the other hand, was having her first child with Bryan, a baby girl that they named Amelia. The addition of the baby wasn't one that Ryan welcomed at first, spending more time at his father's house to get away from the crying newborn and the somewhat cranky parents that he had to deal with as a result. Still, once Amelia was past the stage of drooling newborn, he actually found that he enjoyed having a little sister and is actually quite protective of her. He never thinks of her as anything but his sister and often forgets that technically they don't have the same parents, so he doesn't appreciate other people pointing it out to him either.
During that year, his step-mother also did some research for him about high schools where he might be able to go to work more on his acting. This wasn't something that she let his father, mother, or step-mother in on though because although they'd once all agreed that they'd do whatever they could to help him achieve greatness in his acting, she knew none of them would be fond of the idea of him leaving. Nor was she for that matter, but she stood by the idea that Ryan should at least have a chance to make his own decisions regarding this. So, when she found Gordon Parks' she figured that it was a great fit for her step-son and brought it up to him, an idea that he was hesitant about initially but quickly changed his mind the more he learned about it. When he started talking about it with his father, he could tell that Bryan wasn't so thrilled about the idea, but seeing his son's enthusiasm he changed his mind and offered to pay the tuition to the school. When he told his mother though, she was not approving of the idea and for the first time he actually saw his parents have a real argument in front of him and regarding him.
In the end, though, she gave in and it was decided that he'd be allowed to send in an application. So when the time came, he sent in his application and held his breath. By the time the audition came, he felt more nervous than he'd ever been before and he was sure that he'd failed miserably afterward. However, a few weeks later his acceptance came in the mail and he was thrilled to pack his bags, ready for his Freshman year at Gordon Parks'. He found the first year difficult and got discouraged about continuing, especially when Christmas break came, but he managed to find his rhythm with the heavy school work and by the time summer vacation was over, he was thrilled to be headed back to the school in Missouri.
