It was crazy to think that in about a month's time from now, Henry would be graduating high school. The past four years had gone by so fast, and he could hardly believe he was so close to being in college. He was excited, too, to get to this next part of his life, meet new people, figure out where his life was going and all those things. The only downside to all this was the people he would be leaving behind by moving back to Texas for University - namely Anna. When he'd started out his senior year of high school, the last thing he'd expected was to have found someone he would hate the thought of parting from, but it had happened. It'd now been about eight month snce he and Anna had gone on their first date, and he had a hard time processing how their relationship had evolved in the meantime only to lead to an imminent separation. He figured in a way, they didn't have it quite as bad as some others, like Shane and Beatrice who would have to deal with a long, long distance relationship, whereas he would be able to visit Anna quite frequently by driving up to Kansas City - which wasn't a short drive per say, but doable - maybe once a month or so, and then flying now and again as well.
He'd been doing his best to spend as much time with her as possible with the knowledge that they'd have to deal with being apart for the next couple of years, so long as their relationship kept going strong, but with the end of the year coming, projects being due and finals being underway, it wasn't quite as easy to do as it was to say or plan. Some sacrifices had to be made, but some were worth it - today, for example, a Saturday, he'd just spent about the entire day working on one of his big end of the year projects so that he could spend the whole evening, and tomorrow, with her. He'd thought at first about planning some big evening with dinner out and such, but in the end, he'd decided he just wanted to spend some quality, quiet alone time with her. Well, maybe not quiet per say, but not being disturbed by other people. He'd made sure his roommate, especially, wouldn't bother them, and he'd gotten some takeout for them to enjoy in the comfort of his own room, texting her as soon as the food had arrived - though he wasn't sure even food would be their first priority at this point, but he didn't want hunger to ruin the evening either.
